Here is a little kitchen tip.  I grew up with it so I thought everyone did it but recently people who have been in my kitchen have been all "EWW what's that!??"

Put a vanilla bean or two in your sugar bowl.  It makes the sugar have just a vague hint of vanilla, which is not a bad thing for anything you're going to be sweetening.

I've seen a couple of baking recipes that call for vanilla sugar. All I have is imitation vanilla extract, though, which I imagine doesn't work the same way.

I am glad I found other people who appreciate vanilla.
It is my favorite flavor and everyone else just stares at me and says "Vanilla is the absence of flavor, dude."
So I explain about how complex the vanilla's flavor is chemically and how it has all of these psychological effects and how strong yet subtle it is and...
they have walked away minutes ago. Except my girlfriend. She just nods and smiles.

i am a broke person and i shell for expensive as shit vanilla whenever i can.  vanil 4 lyfe.

ever try it in more savory applications?  way tasty with bass.
