Bean burritos with cheese, lettuce and salsa.  Add some baked tortilla chips and salad.

Add a lot of spice to the mix, make the dressing for the salad a garlicy balsamic vinegrette, and it's enough to make me want to go vegetarian.

I agree with Lottel. A properly made cupcake is a marvelous thing in and of itself.

A poorly made cupcake can amount to nothing better than a Frosting Delivery Vector.

Used properly, lettuce can help the individual flavors of a sandwich to stand out more. It should not be used in something that doesn't already have a lot of ingredients.

Those ones are usually the ones with horrible fake frosting anyway.

When I was at Ft. Irwin, some of the Iraqi roleplayers made a beet salad that was amazing.

I forgot to get the recipe.  ::(:

  • salad

Nah, it had beets, some kind of beans, herbs, and...lemon juice? I'm not sure, but there wasn't any lettuce or anything in it.

Your av gives me the impression that you're not as excited by that as I want you to be.

My mom's birthday was yesterday.  I haven't made her a birthday cake since I was like sixteen.  This one is better than that one.  Not pictured: ganache between the layers.

It's settled then. Next time I'm over, I'll bring a bin full of gastric delights.

Bechamel with two kinds of cheese stirred in. Macaroni. Sriracha. THE MISSION WAS COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY.

Saute half an onion, half a potato, half a red pepper, two cloves of garlic, pinch of sage, pinch of ground oregano. Beat six eggs, add salt and pepper. Grate maybe a third a cup of cheese (I used Monterey Jack). Spoon the vegetables into six cups of a greased muffin tin, cover evenly with the eggs, add a bit of red pepper flake to each one, top with cheese. Fill the empty tin cups with water. Bake at 375F for about eight minutes, until the internal temperature his 145F. Remove from pan, garnish mini-frittatas with hot sauce or salsa, and enjoy.

The eggs will look runny when you pull from the oven but that's just the melted cheese. Use a thermometer to make sure. Next time I wanna try with green onions or maybe some finely sliced ham or sausage.

The Girlfriend thinks they'd be good with shrimp and/or in mini-muffin cups as hors d'ouvre.
