As good as this looks I'm not sure I could talk myself into making or eating a sandwich with two steaks in it.

Well presumably you don't eat the entire thing by yourself.  This is a meal for a group, where everybody gets a slice or two.  Like a pizza.

Do you understand how terrifying the words “vibrating strap on” are for an asexual? That’s like saying “the holocaust” to a Jew.

Why not thin-slice the steak and pile it onto the sandwich that way? All I can imagine of biting into that is getting chewy bread and sauteed mushrooms and then two giant chunks of beef getting stuck between my teeth.

It's supposed to do that. It's British food.

"Poor dental hygiene is actually an evolutionary trait of the British in order to store food. They cook and serve food in a way that exploits their natural advantage."

Seen on a Pho restaurant menu today: "...with vermincelli noodle".

"Well, we were out of eggs, so I made French toast. Well, tried."
"Okay?"
"Have you ever heard that if you're low on eggs, you can substitute some pureed overripe banana and come out with something just as good?"
"No."
"No, you haven't, because it's a goddamned lie."

We agreed that banana French toast demands further experimentation, but only when we have adequate eggs.

I think you might be able to make that work if the ratio eggs:banana is 1:1 or less (e.g. 2:1, 3:2)? Is that your thinking?

Yes, make the banana more an addition than a substitution.

This demands more experimentation, but two spoons of Nutella dissolved into hot milk (with a sprinkle of salt) makes a passable hot chocolate.

If we had actual cocoa (and some paprika) it'd probably be better, but if we had actual cocoa I wouldn't have tried this in the first place.

You've never had spicy cocoa before? It's really quite wonderful.

Chocolate was paired with chiles before it was paired with sugar. It is safe to assume if I make anything chocolate, there's something like that in there somewhere.

I've been to all kinds of places with proper "legit" Mexican and South American cooking. And I love all that stuff.

But sometimes you really just want fake-ass WHITE GUYTM homemade North American gringo tacos (without it actually being Taco Bell-levels of squeezed-from-a-caulking-gun awful).

Herb-roasted pork tenderloin, honey balsamic glazed carrots, and masher taters(would have been masher taters with boursin cheese, but I forgot to buy the cheese).
