That's as close to glorious death in battle as he could have hoped to get.  Good on him.

I'm sorry Kazz, much like the ending to the Sopranos, you will never know.  Black screen, sound of dice rolling.

I didn't know the others he hung out well enough to ask them for the details.  Many of the regulars attended his funeral.  I can only hope he still commands tanks and infantry from whatever lies beyond.

While there has been no official announcement made yet, Wizards of The Coast are discontinuing Starter/Tournament Packs for Magic: The Gathering.

Right.  So back to three packs and a rubber band it is.  I'm betting this is aimed at selling more of the 'theme' decks (do they still do those?) for people who need lands.  If not, they better start giving more boxes of land cards to retailers to give away.  I say that in bold because I've heard of at least one store charging for LAND cards that WOTC gives essentially for free for some tournament events.

From what I understand, he was at a major tournament down in Texas, in the middle of a round, rolled some dice, and sat back down, never to stand again.

That's beautiful.

This seems like as good a thread as any to post this:

Over at my blog, I've got a contest going with prizes by one of my sponsors. The first prize is a set of dice made from semiprecious stones, specifically Botswana agate.

The contest is to tell an amusing gaming anecdote - D&D, wargames, card games, board games, anything as long as it's genuinely amusing to an audience of Dungeons & Dragons players. I'm counting on you guys to raise the standard of entries here. I expect to fall off my chair with laughter here. Entry information on the site.

I've been browsing for other venues to play at in Kansas City, and I found one with a rather down-to-earth explanation of how to play warhammer 40k.

Had a :sarcasm: encounter yesterday in Toronto.

My two friends, one who's seen Wanted, and one who's read Wanted were with me. They were talking about the movie and the comic as I purchased minis. The guy running the :sarcasm: store, who looked remarkably like :sarcasm: came up to us and pulled a copy from the shelf and talked to us about how two of the characters, "Fuckwit" and "Shithead," were not in the film. Remarkable.

Privateer Press trolls the entire miniature gamer market.  No, this is not april fools, they just added VOLTRON to their collectible miniatures game that is all about kaiju fights.

For anybody just scanning the thread - that's not "hey look they made a robot that looks like Voltron", that's "hey look, they licsenced the name and likeness of Voltron."

I look forward to licensed Power Rangers minis. Perhaps even, one day... dare I dream... Battletech? Mazinger? ExoSquad?
