I've started to watch AD but I can't help but be overcome by Fireflyesque remorse every time I stop to think.

So, okay.  Between both Turpin AND Mannheim showing up this season, there's no question that the writers of Smallville are drawing from Jack Kirby's Fourth World.  And that means that at some point, someone has certainly floated the idea of using Darkseid on the show.

And it occurs to me that Smallville's more realistic, less capes-and-tights premise would be the perfect place to use Morrison's version of the New Gods, with Dark Side as a crime boss and the Gods of New Genesis as homeless people.

Now, of course this is Smallville we're talking about, so of course it would be foolish to expect anything that awesome to actually happen.  But a man can dream.

Just don't act surprised when Don Rickles makes a guest appearance.

Who could have predicted that Tom Welling directing an episode of Smallville would result in every single person in the cast overacting their way through heavyhanded, moralistic speeches?

Of course, it's not his fault the script sucked.

Neat bit with the
Kryptonite ring
, though.  And I quite liked the special effect they used when Parasite stole his powers.

Also: the ending would have been more dramatic if the echo on the Spooky Voice hadn't been so overbearing that I had to replay it three times before I understood the last line was
"Then you shall be the savior of Kandor."
Oh boy, a network sci-fi show starring Alan Tudyk and Morena Baccarin, what could possibly go --

Conan O'Brien running from New York to L.A. is one of my new favorite things.

I'm a Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here! has given me new hope for humanity. The premise is that there are a bunch of celebrities trapped in the jungle. Each week, one is voted out by YOU the VIEWER. The premise is that the jungle sucks ass and the longer a Celeb stays there, the more money their charity gets.

Point 1: I would like to believe that the watchers of the show know what charity each celeb is tied to and would vote based ONLY on that criteria, but of course this is not the case, which only helps confirm my suspicion that the people I call friends are the only human beings on this rock.

Point 2: However, in the most recent episode I saw, Janice was voted off. Janice is the camp's most lazy, complaining, underhanded, chaos-causing and generally unlikable character, which you would think would mean she's going to get 2nd place. But no. She's out. It goes far to restore my faith in humanity. America clearly doesn't want to inflict Janice on these poor celebs any longer, and I praise them for that. At one point in the show, she stole food. Another time she spit on a plate instead of washing it like she had volunteered to do. I mean, she's acted like total scum, and America actually voted her off. I'm... proud as hell! Go USA!

Point 3: I am still without a girlfriend or job. Pray for me, WFEers.

Side note: It's hilarious how these celebs can't seem to muster the ingenuity to build a shelter or improve their lives beyond some very simple modifications to their camp.

You know why I have no faith in humanity?  Because humans have a tendency to base their faith in humanity on shit like reality television.

You're talking about a Reality Show, man. Fuck, not even that classy -- you are talking about a Celebrity Reality Show.

There aren't enough words in the dictionary to help you sound smart.

Wait, who says that burn notice is not a good show? Because they are wrong.

Sure, it has bad episodes. And Bruce Campbell's acting is kind of groan-worthy. But still, good show!

Fuck you, Bruce Campbell is awesome.  Go away and never return, you vile beast.

Also, Burn Notice is pretty good--I just am too lazy to bother ever watching it.

Don't get me wrong, I love Bruce Campbell. Just not in Burn Notice. I don't know what it is, he just gives me the "needs acting lessons" vibe whenever I watch it.

okay yeah the exception is when he becomes Chuck Finley, A Very Serious Man. I think it's mostly anything to do with his girlfriends that bothers me.
