Scott Pilgrim vs. The Animation

This was just a clip on Adult swim to advertise the movie. I am sad this didn't develop into a series. so sad.

I agree wholeheartedly with Maureen Ryan on why Sandman would not translate well to TV.

How the hell come the word "animated" doesn't appear anywhere in the article?

Didn't you get the memo? Cartoons are for kids.

Yeah, I forgot.  So are comic books, but luckily, Sandman is a GRAPHIC NOVEL.

But it'll never happen because the nerd vote turned up apathy at the ticketbox.

RE: DVD sales.
All I'm saying is I'm going to be more surprised by a success than a failure.

EDIT:
Like a lot more.

I'll buy a lottery ticket and watch the skies for livestock.

Yeah, she's also Roxy in the movie and was Ann on Arrested Development.

Also apparently she is Tinkerbell.

It's too early to assume one way or another on DVD sales, but there's definitely a POSSIBILITY they'll redeem ticket sales.  Remember when Kick-Ass was a failure?

There's precedent for this kind of niche movie being a long-tail affair.

Breaking even is a success at the box office now?
... I'll believe it.

Some movies make the bulk of their money externally from ticket sales.

This movie makes Star Wars look relatively self-contained.

The Last Airbender is inching close to breaking even. There's no sequel in sight though.

So Tower Prep's off to a pretty good start.  I'm fairly confident Dini pitched it as "Harry Potter meets The Prisoner" -- boy with extraordinary powers gets taken to a special school, except that it's a bad place, he can't leave, and nobody will tell him what the hell is going on.

So far the cast of characters is interesting, the central mystery is compelling, and the superpowers seem like one of those cases where a basic cable budget has forced the writers to be more clever.

All in all, if it can keep up this level of quality I'm sold.

So, Conan premiered last night. Liked it, thought it was funny, addressed his issues with NBC without dwelling on them. Had good bit pieces, great commentary buy Conan and Andy (who I admit I generally don't like, but he wasn't bad in this Ep. at least) and OK guests. And at the end Conan rocked out with Jack White. What more could you want? I know they where on his show but it was nice that everyone seemed to be genuinely glad to see Conan back on late night. Perhaps being the only person I wouldn't describe as an asshole in the interview seat is a good thing. After all, that's always been the reason I prefer Conan.
