You know, this is a good a place as any to ask.

I've been trying to track down the Rocket Knight Adventures OST in MP3 form... but the only one I've found seems off tune. Like, it was using the wrong tone through most of the high notes, with the occassional buzzing. It annoyed the shit out of me, so I've been looking for a better one, but no far, no dice. :(

Phantom has a special place in my heart because he burst my cherry. Before I played and beat Devil May Cry 1, I was an easy-moding wuss factory.

I died to Phantom twenty times, in a row, in one sitting on normal before I could beat him. When the game offered me Easy Difficulty after the third time, I made the right decision and kept trying.

The fact that he's by far the most personable boss in the entire game with only Gryphon as a close second makes it easy to love the guy. He gets just as mad as you do to take damage.

And then he becomes a recurring villain. And you can run from him or beat him up for more fabulous prizes.

And then he comes back with one of the most bad-ass opening riffs possible.

Just played through that a few days ago.  I'm working my way through 2, still debating if I'm going to sneak in to Matilda to get Humphrey and Futch early.

I've always sort of loved the theme of Alexander, Lord of Destruction. I also love the character because it makes me think of Kazz. You know, when he's introduced as the immensely powerful dumbass by Zetta? Ha ha ha.

DID SOMEBODY SAY RAGNAROK ONLINE MUSIC

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMY6QrtveGg

Fuck, this theme made Heal-Bomb farming so great. Glast Heim really was the best dungeon ever.

Speaking of great dungeon design: Crusader of Centy!

Crusader of Centy was strangely dark for a kid's Zelda rip-off. The game has you almost immediately love the ability to speak to Humans in exchange for the ability to speak to Animals. Every one from your best friends to your mother to random strangers babbles wind-dings at you and you just grab a Caterpillar and a Dog or something and run off to travel the world as a child with a sword. At one point, you even get cursed into Slime that the greatest hero in the land randomly tries to murder.

At the apex of it, you come to the Tower of Babel, where supposedly you can remove your curse. That's right! All you have to do is scale the most dangerous place in the World.

Also around this time your loyal Caterpillar, the worst animal power-up, matures into a Butterfly and becomes one of the best. I ALWAYS BELIEVED IN YOU FRIEND!

At the top, you fight what is a floating dragon with animated sword and shield and he is just a giant mean sunnuvabitch who wants to see you fail for no reason. I think he actually had an instruction manual blurb that he wanted the treasure of Babel as well. All I knew when I saw him as a young fellow is that this bastard was standing between me and my ultimate goal for almost no other reason than the fact that he was bigger than me. With this pretty sweet track rocking.. it was time to throw my sword at his freakishly large head.

This boss track also plays when the GOD OF WATER LEVIATHAN uses an illusion of your mother to judge the worth of your soul(you have to defend it while damaging him D:)

SoundTEMP really did some nice stuff for what is basically the Ur-Example of the "Grind your face off" MMO, outclassing even FF11 in it's insanity. Just barely.

'sbecause there was no such thing as "raiding" back then.

We actually tried it once and were shocked by how quickly we all went from level 1 to our 20s.

So I wasn't going to go to the Music of Final Fantasy symphonic concert this weekend, but then I met Nobuo Uematsu today and sold him an overpriced museum t-shirt.  Tickets for tomorrow night.
