Exactly.

You know why murder is illegal?  Because someone somewhere is going to get it into their head to murder you back.

War presupposes that you're in it to win it and will therefore kill all the rest of those people too, so it's "okay" because you can probably get away with it.  Hopefully.

I've always said that genocide solves a lot of problems that are supposedly unsolvable by other means.

Hey, it's only horrible if you're on the receiving end.

And none of them are real people anyway.

Look on the bright side: killing them may not be murder.

There is monolithic 200 ft cross in Illinois that will make you shit your pants in fear as you see it from the highway.

It's a waste of money but I don't see what's so terrifying about it. I mean, it's a non-denominational thing; that's kind of nice.

Either you have a guilty conscience, or you suspect it's the docking station for Mecha-Christ.

The same way that a giant noose, guillotine, electric chair or oubliette is non-denominational.

The base of the thing is surrounded by large tablets with the Ten Commandments engraved on them, in case you were confused as to its message.

Though I do support any shrine dedicated to informing Christians as to what the fucking Commandments are.

A giant noose wouldn't be denominational, I guess, but I imagine it'd nevertheless run afoul with minority groups.

non-denominational doesn't mean secular, it just means it's for any kind of Christian, because in a lot of circumstances something will explicitly be Catholic or Methodist or Baptist or what not.  There are a lot of Non-Denominational Churches.

And now you guys have learned even more!

also, the pants-shitting is probably just because of the sheer, stark, megalithic size of the thing.  If you had a santa claus that big it'd be scary too.

Yeah, and that's good, because the days where Baptists collaborate with Catholics will have to come before the days where Baptists collaborate with Muslims. Baby steps, people.

Now that I think about it, giant crosses popping out of the ground would be the kind of thing you'd expect to see in the US if Shin Megami Tensei came true. It is kind of spooky in a way I suppose.

That thing's like a half hour away from me. After a while, you just get used to it. It is pretty big, though.
