Anyone still following Battle Angel Alita? Alita has become some sort of Un-character ever since she went catgirl. Getting a Mary Sue label in a mass of Mary Sues has to be some sort of record since I am finding myself enjoying the stories of Sechs,Zetta and Super Thunder Cyborg whose name I've forgotten much more than her's. The Doomed to die contestants are more interesting.

Not exactly, her newest body has a tail (or at least the jacket does) though

Not only that, she spends a lot of her time sleeping and eating. Only waking up to punch something before scurrying off.

I was reading that for a while because I really liked the art style that Alita had reached at the end of the original series (the only original-series book I still own is the last volume... I think? I may have the third and fourth ones.), but I think I stopped collecting last order after the fifth or sixth volume. It had just become another one of those meaninglessly overcomplicated non-plots that latter-day Manga are fond of. It's not that I hated it, I just couldn't be bothered to keep up.

The final remaining chapters of Mudazumo Naki Kaikaku have been translated.

If you weren't following this series, Mangafox finally sorted the duplicate and out-of-order chapters they had, so now's a good time to start. Mudazumo Naki Kaikaku follows former Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi as he battles world leaders for global stakes in the manliest contest known to man: mahjong.

Addendum: This is the song which plays during the final chapter starting on page 13.

Do you understand how terrifying the words “vibrating strap on” are for an asexual? That’s like saying “the holocaust” to a Jew.

Miura is both the author of ultraviolet fantasy manganese Berserk, and famous for delays in new chapters.

I can get behind the short arcs and one shot chapters, but man, the long arcs get downright weird, even by insane manga standards. But especially the bits about the people with crazy magnetic personalities that develop cults through sadomasochism and urine-drinking.

I can't even begin wrap my head around the several chapters-long sex scene interspersed with tirades against academia.

Oh shit. Wow. Smith was a pillar. His translations were not only seminal, they were amazingly good; easily some of the best work I've ever read. He did such an incredible job preserving story and meaning.

Hinamatsuri, a story about a 13 year old possibly alien telekinetic girl magically appearing in some yakuza guy's house and making everyone involved suffer greatly. Probably the most realistic single dad manga ever.

Oh, and the translation work is pretty abysmal for the first 5 or so chapters, but it improves after that. Even through that the thing manages to be pretty entertaining.
