It definately looks like it could be really interesting, good, and even fresh in terms of the series that has kind of stagnated since the orignal Prime game.

I actually like how it sort of looks like a God of War game only with Samus in it and with Metroid style level exploration. Because really, the strength of God of War is the boss battles and over all presentation where as the overwhelming weak point that series, to me, is the actual level design and the limited exploration and puzzle elements that feel really forced and boring to me. Taking that game's strengths and adding them to a sort of three 3D Metroid game where the levels feel like the sort of size they were in Super Metroid looks like it could be really fucking cool to me.

There's also something that I like about just the fact that most of the game seems to be in 3rd person and with Samus at the same sort of scale she is in the 2D games. Maybe that's just nostalgia though.

I'm not saying this game is definitely gonna be the shit, but what's wrong with getting a little excited about a new Metroid game?  Unlike Sonic, Metroid games have been pretty consistently good, and there's only been like 10 of them ever.  Why are you drinking so much hatorade, dude?

I've got A Bad Feeling about this one and I wanted folks a bit more skeptical before the inevitable dream-crushing reveal that it is a joyless cutscene-packed linear slog.

THAT SAID, we do need more things to get excited about from this E3 and I will say that Other M does fit the bill of being potentially awesome rather than a sure-fire dud.

I will admit that it looks like a 4 out of 5 instead of the usual 6.

Crying tears of oily black, here.

Boy, I'm sure glad Kabbage destroyed my soul before this game came out!  I would have been so disappointed!

But yeah, I was saying to Geo that this game has ENORMOUS potential, and I'm not expecting it to completely fulfill my dreams, but I have to accept that there's not going to be a true 2D Metroid sequel coming anytime soon, and this is all I have left to look forward to in terms of the series.

I rather doubt it will be a gigantic exercise in point-missing. Like the Retro Studios collaborations, this appears to have been done with relatively close oversight from Nintendo, and if nothing else they probably had access to the Super Mario Club.

Oh, so instead of losing her powers, she now needs to find reasons that show an absolute need for her powers and send in an application to military bureaucracy to use them.

Well, I suppose that would explain why you get a new power directly after a boss battle.
I picture a conversation like this happening:
"FUCK!  If you'd just let me use my super-missiles, I could've beaten that guy without nearly dying!  If you continue this habit of nearly killing me, I'm going to murder you when I'm done with this."
"Erm... Okay, you can use your super-missiles.... Just only 5 of them at a time though, okay"
"...Are you going to let me have more if I need them?"
"No.  That's the maximum, we don't want you destroying the place. Got that?"
"..." *sound of Samus turning back to her ship*
"...Okay fine!  But could you at least find us some souvenirs or something?  Just consider it a trade."
*Shoots a random wall, picks up a shiny rock*
"Here ya go, 5 more super-missiles."

Thats the first negative thing about the game that bothers me. But it doesn't seem to be a real killer, either. Granted if theres nothing to FIND, that shit is going to be retarded. I'm more expecting a mix as everything I've read points to that.
