Parish interview. Confirms that the game is set between 3 and 4.

No one wants to touch on the subject that after Fusion, Samus is literally an alien succubus.

The fact that this is not Metroid 5 gives me hope that they are still planning on making one, and it will be 2D.

I spend my time at work brainstorming ideas for Metroid 5, mostly based on the "Metroid Mutation" thing we had going.  My favorite idea is Samus' arm cannon getting Metroid fangs, allowing for a melee attack that would drain the life force from the enemy.  This replaces energy drops as the main way of restoring health.  You would also use it to finish off bosses to gain powerups.  I think it would give a cool inhuman feeling by forcing you to act like a Metroid to survive, and watching your enemies lose color and crumble to dust.

I can't believe Lee-Ham's the first and so far only person to put two and two together and make Samus' shoulder pads into metroids. And I'm annoyed that nobody's tried to use that.

THAT would be particularly awesome, putting you into the frame of mind where, if you're low on health (hungry), you're going to genuinely want to go vampiring enemies/animals' lifejuice for your own selfish ends. The more graphic, the better.

Coulda sworn Sharkey had a comic about doing exactly that, like, four years ago.

It was me. Sharkey put some of my sketches up on his front page for a while.

That's kinda up to debate.

Either it's what you said, and she can absorb anything, or it was just that the Metroid goop in her system allowed her to absorb and digest X-goop*.

She certainly can still take her armor off at the end, still looks human, and there's no suggestion that she can't control it and accidentally ate one of her newly obtained pets.

*This could mean she could absorb any weakened tissue, or maybe the X-goops are basically made stem cells and they can be converted into anything easily.

Everybody expects Metroid to live up to the standard of Super Metroid's telling a cohesive story without the use of any voice or text (sans the beginning, where there was voice and text).

The thing is, in the series' entire run, Super Metroid was the only one to really do that.  Metroid 1 was basically "You blow up Mother Brain okay."  Metroid 2 had an ending bit but was otherwise the same.  And every Metroid after that was talky-talk-talk (except maybe Zero Mission which I haven't played, but that was a remake anyway.)

So, you know, you're probably going to have to just accept that Super Metroid was a unique thing and, like, super hard to reproduce.

Zero-Mission did it right.  It had a few short silent cut-scenes and that was it.  And one of the last ones showed a
child's drawing on the wall of one of the chozo ruins.
Everyone expects every Metroid game to live up to Super Metroid.

You know, Super Metroid the best game of all time.

Realistic expectations here, folks.

Just X-goop. The metroids were X's only natural predator, so they bonded Samus with metroid dna to fight off the X parasites that were killing her, thus giving her the ability to absorb the energy from X-infected creatures.

Errrrrm?  Not without gallons of text.

If you don't scan shit the game never gives you a very clear idea as to why a giant alien jellyfish/tank just popped out of the ground, or what the significance of it is.

Oh no. Me and Samus and the rest of the girls never directly compete. You know, like how bears and shit avoid each other. It's just not worth the risk.
