Beyond Good And Evil was fun, I guess, but I really don't get all the hype. There was no depth to it! You had decent combat and decent stealth and decent photography and decent ship travel, but none of these game elements have much chance to develop before the game ends. On top of that, the story was almost offensively transparent. "You mean the sinister, villainous-looking robots are actually villains?!" It probably wouldn't have bothered me so much had there not been so much potential here--they went to all this effort to make Jade into a believable and nuanced heroine, and then they saddled her with cliched hero Double H and the piggy-eyed leader of the Alpha Sectors as a villain, and... man, I dunno. I guess I expected some real moral quandaries from a game named "Beyond Good and Evil".
