Oy. I'm in Big Shell and building a tower to reach the heavens to spite the gods. And I'm wondering, any chance of being lent some shears or two iron if I pay you back when I find some?

My hobo house now has access to a genuine underground chasm. Take the northwest staircase from the lava lake if you wanna take a look (the path is beyond straightforward), but watch out for skeletons spawning on the opposite walls, the place's not halfway lit up.

I call it a hobo house, but seeing as its basement is like "TURN RIGHT FOR SPIDER MINES, TURN LEFT FOR FIRE AND SHADOW", it might turn out to be the cork on the champaigne bottle of hell.

Things Endermen can't pick up:

* Snow block
* Obsidian
* Bedrock (originally they could, but not any more)
* Anything that contains items (chest, furnace, dispenser)
* Double half-brick
* Tilled farmland (unless they walk on it, turning it into dirt)
* Anything that's not a perfect cube (stairs, cake, fence, door, half-block), except mushroom, flower, and cactus

That last line is partially incorrect. Endermen can definitely pick up stair blocks. They cannot pick up slabs though.

They can't pick up stairs, at least in 1.8.1. I thought they could, but it turned out to be mushrooms overgrowing my blocks. Endermen cannot pick up any block which is non-cubular, except for flowers, mushrooms and cactus.

In the 1.9 pre-release, Endermen can only pick up dirt, clay, gravel, sand, pumpkins, melons, cactus, TNT, flowers and mushrooms. I imagine this is because they were ruining forests by taking chunks out of trees, breaking houses, and so on.

Awesome, Notch officially ruins the only cool thing about Endermen.

They really ought to have the ability to jack non-building materials, like chests, workstations, cakes etc

I suppose a race of black people who like to steal stuff wouldn't go over well though.

So the minecraft world is making hay out of the fact that both Fried Chicken and Watermelon have just been added to game at the same time as nasty black-skinned enemies.

The comparison probably wouldn't have even been noticed if Notch hadn't made a terrible n-word joke on twitter a couple weeks ago. :whoops:
On the other hand, Endermen are impossible to beat at the new basketball minigame.

EDIT: Dammit Ziiro!

Is multiplayer saving always this buggy? I saved in a cave with a bunch of iron, coal, and some gold and when I logged back in, I spawned on my bed with hardly any items on my person. And I still had two picks, one of which I know I went through while mining. Checked the cave and the blocks of iron are missing. Client side error, I guess?

That's a bit extreme but yes, inventories have historically never synced perfectly.

Since the map is stored as independent chunks, it occasionally happens that changes to one chunk are kept, while changes to another are lost. The last time it happened to me was back in 1.2 or so.

Lost at a tiny island at night without enough torches, I built a furnace and filled it with some coal and iron ore I'd found on my travels, hoping the light would keep monsters away during the night. I deployed my one remaining boat so as to make a quick getaway at daylight, put all my gear into a chest in case I didn't last the night, and climbed a stack of gravel to evade the monsters. Then, Minecraft crashed.

When I re-loaded, it remembered my inventory, but not the changes I'd made to the chunk. I fell from what used to be a gravel stack but was now mid-air, onto a completely dark island, with no escape boat or equipment.

So I finally got around to a big 1.8 fun times minecraft night.

Man, did they up the incidence of iron, or what? Seems noticeably more common now.
