Playing online is kind of pointless for the time being, but I went ahead and switched us over to hey0 mod anyway.  Enjoy, if you will.

I was going to admonish the dude for having his priorities out-of-place, but then I realized the futility of arguing with success.

We stopped by the apartment long enough to pack for the bed and breakfast we were going to. Our more traditional honeymoon won't be for a year or two, though.

How hard is it to set up warp points? Do you need access to server files, or can you do it as an op?

Patch tomorrow, here are the notes:

Quote
General fixes:
* players and mobs in lava or fire no longer spam sound effects
* getting hit with a higher damage while recovering from a smaller one now works as intended
* lava flows further in the Nether
* zombie pigs eventually forgives
* added support for custom texture packs
* fixed duplicate buttons when resizing screens
* zombie pigs and ghasts no longer get hurt by fire or lava
* fixed volume sliders now saving properly

Multiplayer fixes:
* hellworld=true no longer overwrites old save chunks. Player positions will still break if you switch it on a running server, though
* boats are now visible to other players
* minecarts move nicer
* fishing kinda sorta works, but needs more work
* sheep and cows look like sheep and cows now
* buckets work now
* fixed stairs being really difficult to destroy
* increased the timeout before “Took too long to log in”
* made it possible to ride carts and boats (pigs should work too..)

Can't wait to start the minecart interstate infrastructure.

Does "minecarts move nicer" break boosters, though?

Do you understand how terrifying the words “vibrating strap on” are for an asexual? That’s like saying “the holocaust” to a Jew.

pssssst~

"Multiplayer fixes:"

edit: Also no one go crazy laying out tracks until we figure things out. When the update comes out, just see how well rails work and proto type things. We'll probably want a switching station if everything is good.

My prediction though is that boosters are going to be real lag monsters.

Shame. I was pushing zombie pigs into fire pits for free pork. They didn't become hostile if you set them on fire.

I just took the flint and steel and set the ground beneath them on fire.
I do the same with pigs and the like.

If boats are going to work in MP as they currently do in SP, I have a better mass transit idea than monorail...

So is he saying minecarts are going to fully work now, or just that they're going to work better?

In either case I think a waterway system would be more efficient than minecarts, but that's just me.

If we're really concerned with the speed of transport, the fastest method will be to actually set up some warp points, and maybe have some signs by the spawn so that people can teleport there first before going to their actual destination. The appeal of boats and trains in multiplayer is entirely aesthetic.

Don't trains also slaughter wildlife that finds itself on the tracks?

they actually just come to an instant dead stop. Not so hot if there's a creeper on the tracks.

Speaking of which, Kayin and I were experimenting with minecarts for science, and I believe what I did after he left has crashed the server.
