Yeah Starr was trying to do a travel guide for the server she plays on and got An Unpleasant Surprise. On going to the Minecraft Forums, she found out this has happened to a lot of folks.

Just got home from a lava flow, lock the front door, oh boy
Got to sit down, take a rest on the porch
Imagination sets in, pretty soon I'm singin'
Cube cube cube, lookin' out my back door

There's spiders doin' cartwheels, zombies wearin' high heels
Look at all the healthy creepers dancin' on the lawn
Diamond decorations, listenin' to Gold Records
Cube cube cube, lookin' out my back door

Tambourines and skeletons are playin' in the band
Won't you take a ride on the booster cart
Cube cube cube
Wondrous geometrics provided by a swede-man
Cube cube cube, lookin' out my back door

Tambourines and skeletons are playin' in the band
Won't you take a ride on the booster cart
Cube cube cube
Bother me tomorrow, today I'll find no sorrow
Cube cube cube, lookin' out my back door

Forward troubles lava flows, lock the front door, oh boy
Look at all the healthy creepers dancin' on the lawn
Bother me tomorrow, today I'll buy no sorrows
Cube cube cube, lookin' out my back door

........ now I wish this was a video.

Funny story. The devs of Craftbukkit updated the server files. The update is dated a day before the last minecraft update. RETROACTIVE UPDATES!

Also the devs are total dicks to the plugin makers.

Zanzibarland has some severe errors going on and I can't figure out how to force the server to stop. I can't just go in and type in the usual stop command.

Notch updated his blog today with a note about how terrain generation works in Minecraft, specifically with how it works over large distances. What really caught my attention was this:

Quote
Most other things, like the terrain generation seeds and entity locations use 64 bit doubles for locations, and they do much subtler things. For example, at extreme distances, the player may move slower than near the center of the world, due to rounding errors (the position has a huge mantissa, the movement delta has a tiny, so it gets cut off faster). The terrain generator can also start generating weird structures, such as huge blocks of solid material, but I haven’t seen this lately nor examined exactly what behavior causes it to happen. One major problem at long distances is that the physics starts bugging out, so the player can randomly fall into ground blocks or get stuck while walking along a wall.

Notch states that nobody really encounters these problems, as they are far, far off in most worlds, but it intrigued me none-the-less.  I'm really enraptured with the idea of Minecraft as its own universe, where the laws of physics begin to break down the further from the "center" of the world you get. What's really great is how these bugs aren't planned, they're just the natural result of how Notch created the game, kind of singularity bugs in the system. It'd be interesting if more complex code began generating more complex, crazier errors.

Yeah, when I was born the doctor wanted to kill me because I was a freak who kept falling into the floor and getting stuck in the walls.

"Where'd Friday go?"

"Oh she's phasing through the wall again, honey, would you mind getting the mining pick and shovel so we can get her out."

I'm waiting for one of the bugs to look like Olivia Wilde.

This reminds me of The Planiverse. (Great book. Pick it up.)

Next thing we'll see is some AI bugs that we can't explain. Then, a small pocket will find a few new creatures. Computer people will step in and delete the bad data. World will revolt. And...

You know, that sounds a lot like .hack....

Then the video got to the wolves attacking the cow.
