If we're thinking about doing a fighting game thing over MAME how about SFA3?

Maybe Pangya (Loligolf), possibly a hunt for Most Useless WoW Mod.. hmm.

No games that require folks to sink in three years of gameplay practice to play worth a damn. Arcade fighting games are like the least newbie-friendly thing I can imagine~

You're kidding, right? This coming from someone offering real suggestions in the RTS thread. I mean, seriously?

Anyways, at least 4 of us on the forums who play at a capable level (Myself, Patito, Aintaer and Envy), but I'm pretty sure theres a few more, so it all depends on interest really. Honestly this is going to come down to me vs Patito anyways (Though theres probably a few events like this).

It could be fighting game pot luck. Patito and I would still have the highest chances, but if it's something no ones really played until the last possible moment (maybe a day to mess with it?) that might be fun. Or worse. I dunno. I can probably get way better at a fighter in 10 minutes then most people could.

I dunno, probably is a bust, but more because I don't think theres the interest, more so then the games being hard ( I mean come on, Star Craft)

(also SFA3 is dumb. SFA2 is less dumb)

Okay, let's lay this shit down.

FROCTO MAY CRY - Make or select a portion of a game for Frocto to play. The winner is the person who makes him cry the most.

LET'S SPEED - Obvious choice is God of Fire, judged by Brentai. I'll have my time up shortly, think of it as the one to beat.

FURTHEST COMPLETION OF SEXY HIKING - YOU WANT THIS EVEN IF YOU WON'T ADMIT IT (Bronze for getting further than Frocto, Silver for getting further than Kazz and Gold for beating the game)

EROTIC FANFICTION - YOU WANT THIS EVEN IF YOU WON'T ADMIT IT

The Active contest:
Thread that all contestants can post anything in and will be locked at a random time as determined by dice beforehand.

Gold: Last post of thread before locking.

Silver: Least number of posts in thread.

Bronze: Most posts in thread.

- Can only win one medal, if multiple are won, the lowest value is awarded.

Maybe you guys should look at the Locked Threads at the bottom of this forum, as those are official events waiting to be opened on their start dates.

I was aware of the thread for having a smutty time with a board member, so I suppose that will suffice for my purposes, yes! Let's Play Worstlympics would like to apologize for drops in video quality nonetheless, as we will be copulating with low-quality jpgs :(

What? Nobody but Nor and I apparently play WiC, if that's what you're talking about, so I seriously doubt a WiC round is going to happen. I suggested the thing because it's incredibly easy to pick up in the demo, especially when you're limited to one role on a side, and experienced players would be stuck in the same army as newbies.

Fighting games are one on one, so you get two or three guys who actually know how to play the dang thing and everyone else is hilariously outclassed. Something like SF4 might work if it's as accessible as Brent says it is, but "mame arcade challenge" sounds a lot like you guys have one or two hardcore MvC2/KoF sorta titles in mind and nobody but the four of you could feasibly pose a challenge without sinking in hours training.

I like fighting games and all, but unless it's something most folks know (like SF) or something newbie-friendly, it sounds like a lot of work to make this fun.

What I'm saying is that RTSs are worlds more unfriendly for group play in a situation where 1 or 2 players are better then anyone else (or in general, really). Do one thing wrong at the start of the round in something like Stacraft and OOPS SORRY, you just lost and you don't even know it. RTSs are a constant slippery slope and a game where the situation never 'resets'.

I might beat peoples asses in fighting games, but every 30 seconds is a fresh start and every lesson someone learns can be applied immediately. If I combo someone early on for a small mistake, they get damaged, but beyond their life bar being lower, they are still at full offensive power. They can still use and try out all the tactics they want. The only difference is perhaps the fact that Fighting Games are easier, a few of us can actually play at a respectable level.

In my social group, fighting games have a healthy variety of competition. Myself and Patito are quite good and we have a few friends under us we're better then, but can beat us and then maybe some people who need more work. Playing RTSs with our other friend (who definitely put less time into RTSs then Patito and I put into fighting games) was unbeatable. I think in the 6 months we gave RTSs a go, no one beat him once. And for some of us (certainly not me), it was not due to a lack of trying. He certainly was better then all of us, but the skill margin felt astronomical even when in reality it was probably fairly mild

That is just the nature of RTSs. So I will not abide by your SLANDEROUS comments.   :serious:

On the subject of fighter's I have not had extensive play with it but rumble fighter's was a pretty nifty little fighter that really had no skill too it.

Frocto has taught me the ways of Hamachi, which I think will also solve our Mario Kart conundrum.
