How do HRs work in MH3? HR9 is max like in Portables? Or more like the original?

HR99 is the max in MH3, I think.

More like HR999.  You'll open up the quest ranks well before that, though.

edit:  this needs to happen

Jhen Mohran is pretty neat. So is HR30. Too bad I'm not HR31.

Now if only Capcom didn't decide that the event quest was only going to be up for 2 days. I guess you can't just let everyone play the second biggest fight whenever they want. Too bad, since I wanted to stock up on mohran parts, since some things require elder dragonblood.

I went back to playing Freedom Unite while I wait for people to start playing again. It's funny how I go from fighting Barioth to fighting Tigrex. Tigrex is almost easier than Barioth is.

Got this bastard two days ago.

Some stupid questions:

I tried to add the other IDs found in this thread, but the messages I sent wouldn't go through.  Do people have to be on the same server to send messages/friend requests to each other?

I'm not very far in, and I've got one stupid question so far.  Now that I've unlocked a few quests that take place in the Sandy Plains area as opposed to Deserted Island.  Is there any way to go to Sandy Plains without first accepting a quest there?

People have to be online to receive your messages.  It's kinda retarded, but they aren't persistent servers, or anything.  It's just a matchmaker system.

And no, you'll have to get a quest for the desert.  You should unlock a free gathering quest eventually.

From my experience, taking an easy hunt/gather quest is much better than the paw pass ticket quests they give you.  They won't spawn boss monsters, and they give you free supplies to start with and extra money at the end.

The stronger you punch, the better the door. So there are like super strong murderers who punch people into Venetian doors and shit"

Not only that, but I'd swear the drop rates are altered in hunts as opposed to paw pass quests.  Might just be confirmation bias, though.

I saw Monster Hunter Trii in a store and thought of you guys.

How long is it going to take me to get to decent levels if I want to play with you "folk".

I just started online and Saturn and Smiler started helping me out quite a bit. You can play at any level really. You just might get trampled though.

HR 8 get! I really wanna do the hunters jacket before it's gone if we can manage that. The other two events would be nice but I'm not hr 18 yet though I hope to be with some quick leveling in the next day or two.
