Det: When you are seen by a big monster you also have a different dive when you have your weapon sheathed. It helps sometimes when you are fighting a monster with a huge fuckoff hipcheck.

I played one of the beginning online missions with Meikai last night. It's pretty fun, although I was worrying through the whole thing that there was lag and she was swinging at invisible enemies. After we beat the mission, she admitted to just swinging at air, so the online play isn't buggy after all.

My code is MHWLTV.

Well now I upgraded my greatsword, so now I can kill them in one hit, so now at least I can cut down the population enough so I don't get raped whenever I want to collect some stuff from the area.

With my new sword I can make Great Jaggi limp in about 3 minutes. It feels good to not struggle with the first big monster of the game.

I'm finding that the new, more precise controls make playing with the lance actually quite easy. Playing relatively carefully I can drop most of the early wyverns in under 5 minutes and the precision of the attacks make breaking monster parts a lot easier. I always had trouble getting tails/wings/head crests off with just a greatsword. It wasn't so important in the first game, and I never played the PSP version, but I know in Tri you get bonuses for breaking monster parts off at the end of a quest, so it's a nice thing to be able to maneuver myself a certain way and hit A a dozen times to break off a wing tip.

Also, bitches don't know about my shield block.

At least MHFU had rewards for breaking parts (no subquests, though). It used to be pretty easy to break parts off until you got to GIANT CRABS, when you needed impact weapons to break their shells. That is about how far I got in the game though, so I couldn't tell you anything about the endgame.

Also the chief's son just told me that jaggis are afraid of fire.  ::(:  Fuck you game.

That's not very useful, at least in single player.  Can't have a torch out and attack at the same time.

The lance is incredible.  More so than any other weapon, if you get hurt using a lance, it's your own damn fault.  Switch axe is proving to be quite badical, too.  It's like this mutant lovechild of greatsword, longsword, hammer, and gunlance.  Unleashes pain with a quickness, but you really need to learn the evade windows.

The localization of this game is pretty good.

I'm pretty well convinced the translation was done by at least a few /b/ or /v/tards.

BBQ BFF / Grillin' / Keikaku means plan (in fact, everything argosy captain says, really)

So, I'm guessing it's best to go for complete armor sets, rather than mix n' matching my gear?

Complete armor sets get special bonuses, but it really depends. If you're dying a lot because you're taking too much damage, you can probably live without the auto wyvern tracking or reduced hunger

They've redistributed skill points so that complete sets aren't largely useless until you slot them out with gems, but I would figure once you have lots of different sets to choose from, mix-n-match will become attractive if you're after particular sets of skills.  Early on, though, full sets.  Leather slotted with a couple gather and a whim gem is great for farming, offline.

Sometimes you will get charms after beating a quest. I just got a +10 autoguard. Thanks game, I just switched to switchaxe but now you are making me want to pick my greatsword back up.

So I spent my morning forging an entire set of Barroth armor. I decided that since the motherfucker took four hours to finally kill I might as well farm his shit out.

As a plus, the defense is huge, I have the attack (M) skill now and I've got more than enough lightning resistance for the big boss leviathan!

We really need to get some online monster hunting going. I hate playing with random people, and all of you jerks haven't posted a code yet. Of course, that doesn't matter since a person needs to be online before you can add them.
