Need a trailer here!

The robots, aliens, and generally everything non-human look pretty good.

I don't mind the way the humans look. I'd rather see a stylized approach like this than to watch them try to leap over the uncanny valley on a skateboard.

 Holy hell, that was a dozen flavors of awful.

Hats off to the Lucas Film rep who convinced exhibitors this was worthy beyond a scant Cartoon Network Premiere and same week DVD release.

I looks like it's just a natural progression of the old Clone Wars cartoons that they had on CN after Attack of the Clones came out. The stylization seems to borrow from the anyway. But as much as I loved the Clone Wars shorts, this doesn't really look all that great. The CG looks poorly done to the point that they might as well have just stuck with the cel animation of the Clone Wars, that fit the stylization better anyway.

All of that said, It looks alright, maybe worth pirating or something long after the fact like I did with Clone Wars since it took them forever to show them up here. Does that one Sith woman look like Asajj Ventress to anyone. She seemed to use two light sabers and not a double sided one like the character in this does, but it does resemble her. Also, I thought that Anakin killed her near the end of the Clone Wars.

Edit: Looking up Asajj to see how to spell her name I discovered that she doesn't die when Anakin knocks her off that cliff and that her curved sabers can actually be connected into an S-shaped double sided one. So that may be her in the trailer after all Also she isn't actually a Sith because Dooku never trains her as one. She just has Dark force powers due to her constant anger. Wow, there's lore nerds on the interwebs that know everything.

Gendy Tartakovski makes Lucas look bad, so Lucas goes and remakes the whole thing as subpar CGI. What a shit pile.

Apparently by law you're not allowed to do anything worthwhile with 2D animation anymore.

All existing works of awesome found to be 2D are to be Fahrenheit 451'd immediately and recreated as CG.

Thank you for your cooperation.  Please stay tuned for the computer-generated version of "Rejected".

:victory: They. Will. Rock You.

I dunno, this could work.

Gore's involvement throws this into the "Didn't Know I Wanted It Until I Wanted It" pile. For some reason I had thought he was attached to the Jerry Bruckheimer Prince of Persia flick coming out next summer, but that's actually Mike Newell's (Goblet of Fire) project.

Vidjagame adaptations are at the same point FuunyBook adaptations were placed a decade ago, and one of these two projects could conceivably be the breakout the genre needs.

:wheeeee: like Tomb Raider amirite

...Hey guys, the fact that I can't get the Variety site up should serve as a reminder that maybe you could, you know, not rely on links to external sites to tell people what the fuck you're talking about.

M. Night's The Happening was rated R this week by the MPAA (a first for Night), and now we know why.

:omg:
IT'S A LION! IT'S HUGE!
Meanwhile, looks like Punisher: War Zone is no longer a September release...

Caught the following in a Hollywood Reporter article about Moffat taking over Doctor Who:

Quote
He recently penned the screenplay to "Tintin," to be directed by Steven Spielberg for DreamWorks

Huh.  Probably going to have to catch that, then.

What really annoys me about the Tatsunoko X capcom thing is that Chun-li in that looks WAY FUCKING BETTER than she does in SF4

Or her little Legend flick, for that matter.

From the blog:

Quote
For this week’s exclusive first-look, feast your eyes on the beautiful Moon Bloodgood as Det. Maya Sunee. The character probably won’t sound familiar to you die-hard SF fans out there. And it shouldn’t. Maya’s new to the Street Fighter universe.

Thank you for simultaneously talking up and down to me in one fell swoop there, crappy movie blog.

Quote from: Joblo
Notice that Chun has abandoned her traditional dual-bun hairstyle and her blue frock with spike bracelets, and has instead gone for a more demure, peasant girl look. What do you guys think?

I hate the movie already. All I hear in my head when I see that image is a mud-splattered Austrian screaming for her to get to Deepak Chopra or something.

All they need to do now is announce that the plot of the movie actually revolves around her trying to keep up the appearance of holding down an honest job while fighting in the Street Fighter tournament to make rent money for the apartment she shares with Matt Leblanc, who has a crush on her or something.

Wall-e is a poor unfortunate soul forced to clean up after humanity's mess, and it's obviously the most depressing thing ever to him.

$3 Billion, Worldwide.

That trailer came on when I went to see Indy. (I had seen it previously when I saw Caspian.)

Since I knew what was coming, I noticed that each time the robot did something cute, the crowd I was with (pretty rowdy, as it was opening day, and mostly my age with some older folks) did the awwwwwwww thing.

It got so bad that I eventually said, out loud:

"Stimulus, expected response. Stimulus, expected response."

After that they kinda shut up.
