Wow, what to say about this game.

Awesome style, awesome visuals, awesome atmosphere, non-existent gameplay and just fucking amazing all round.

Kojima needs an editor like a lame horse needs a bullet.

This is the first time I did an LP that I felt like NOBODY was watching, which is probably why I started blabbing so much during cutscenes. Not caring about quality was delightful in its own way, but I think I'm gonna go back to shorter games for a bit, just so I have an incentive to keep it watchable. Lately I've been at the stage where I hate EVO so much I am deliberately sabotaging the videos (I was very pleased when a friend told me the later ones were unwatchable) and it began to seep into this game a bit.

SHORTER PROJECTS: COMING SOON.

Yeah, sorry for not watching, still need to play this game somewhere in between Borderlands and Xenogears.  And, you know, actual life too.

I've watched all of those, many of which I've seen within an hour of you putting them up.

(By chance, I assure you. It's not like I have your channel page on auto-refresh or anything. OR DO I?  :>_>:)

But yeah, fascinating game. I wonder how many actual shooty bits there were. Hmm.

1. The insectors in the factory.
2. The surfer druggie. (I think?)
3. Freddy Nielsen's ho.
4. Freddy Nielsen himself but that hardly counts because Random has to save your ass.
5. The insectors in the Queens Hospital tunnel.
6. The Chinese asshole in the taxi.
7. Chief Benson hiding behind Mika.
8. The green spiders in the church
9. The snatchers in the church.

So 9, not counting the shooting range? Dang.

Speaking of Suda51, I read or heard an interview somewhere, where he (or somebody else at Grasshopper, I can't remember) said that in Killer 7, the gameplay was pretty much the last thing that got designed. They had a plot and characters and graphics and all but they didn't have an actual game to go with it. Eventually they went for the rail shooter. Heh, the parallels draw themselves.

I really want to see what he'll do with Kojima. Suda can be almost as wordy but I never actually want him to shut up. He keeps his style going strongly enough to avoid making it seem like he's derailing the experience to lecture the player, whereas Kojima will downright hijack his own games to make a point.

I've never expected anyone to watch my LPs. I didn't mean for that to sound like whining for people to watch the videos, I was just saying that LPing this game was probably a bit of a mistake.

Zedpower, the difference between Snatcher and Killer7 is that every single one of Snatcher's fight scenes had emotional weight and relevance to the story. Except maybe the Insectors, but I can see why they put those in.

The reason Killer7 gets criticized so much is that it has a lot of pointless fucking combat that has no relation to anything, occasionally flies straight in the face of the story and is dull as fuck. Snatcher's combat was tense and exciting, which is just further proof that Kojima has some good ideas about how to make gameplay sometimes whereas Suda has never had one.

Hideo Kojima can make game with feature-film length cutscenes and it will still seem like an actual game.
