Don't even look at multiplayer until you've beaten Lionwhyte and reunited with the crew. There are spoilers.
Frocto, no, this game is better than Psychonauts. Psychonauts was brilliant but really, really uneven; it felt like a traditional 3D platformer formula, but all the variables had irregular coefficients. Too many kinds of collections, but not enough uses for several of your abilities.
Brutal Legend takes the Fable-style fantasy epic and tweaks it only a little bit. I thought the individual unit commands were kind of sloppy at first, but I hadn't yet acquired all my options for control at that point. Overall, the level of quality is consistently higher, even if there haven't been many super-excellent bits like Lungfishopolis. Besides, I'm only half there.
Niku was talking in the channel today about how gorgeous this game is, and he's right. This game is fucking beautiful. The seaside cliffs made of amps are pretty breathtaking, and the set piece immediately after fighting Lionwhyte--well, I can't say any more. You'll see.
