To be fair, every time Sten complains just telling him to shut up and do what you tell him to do quickly gets approval with him, so.

Fallout 3 was better than Fallout 1, sry.

... i actually would agree but that's SUCH an unpopular opinion i tend to keep it under my hat.

But my complaints with Morrowind are that it has pretty much the same character advancement system as Oblivion but even more obtuse (i.e. NEVER EVER PICK ANYTHING YOU ACTUALLY WANT TO DO AS A MAJOR SKILL OR DIE SCREAMING) and you actually DO need mods to enable some basic gameplay modes. Want to play a magic-user in vanilla Morrowind? Do let me know how that works out.

fallout 1 deserves infinite cred for kicking off the series, but I definitely enjoyed the experience of playing fallout 3 way more than 1. the amount of my life wasted waiting to go in and out of the combat screen for every little rat in an area was just too high.

Fallout 1 felt more like a tech demo for Fallout 2 than anything else.

I enjoyed Fallout 3 more than any other Bethesda or Fallout game though so whatever.

That still doesn't keep it from being totally dumb that he gives you so much grief for not wanting to go 4 on a billion and an archdemon.

A game can have aspects of it that are beautiful and still be horrific in the story/gameplay department (see: several nes/snes games)
you mean how everything in the entire secret of mana series but the music was basically trash

Honestly, provided you actually stuck to the main plot and didn't spend 130 hours sidequesting you didn't have much trouble with poor skill selection or magic - the real problem was when you got to an extremely high level and had to deal with magic that was clearly scaled on sliders and is impossible to cast regularly. (Or have reached level awesome with mediocre stats and have to deal with the occasional leveled monster slaughtering you.)  I think the most valid complaint anyone could have with Morrowind is that the game itself was not particularly balanced around the huge world it inhabited, and things tend to fall apart quickly if you try to be a completionist.  I still think it was a solid game on it's own and does not deserve the flak it gets by association with Oblivion.

Fallout 3, on the other hand, does not quite have this problem - i found it was quite easy to play a completionist character in Fallout without the game either becoming rapidly too difficult (the problem with oblivion) too easy (the problem with morrowind) or too full of cockblocks (magic in most of the elder scrolls) - it's a solid game and a worthy addition to the series. It's not fallout 2, but I doubt any sequel ever will be. The bar is set too high.

And honestly replying fallout 2 i have my issues with it as well, even if they are dramatically overshadowed by how much i love that if a little street rat pickpockets me, they were kind enough to provide special animations for children burning to death.

I'd just steal everything right back. Don't mess with the master, kids. Have a bomb in your pocket.

Also, thread split on all this Bethesda stuff please.

In the Xbox 360 version, I found that you can highlight objects by pulling the left-trigger and spinning the camera. Makes a somewhat effective heads-up on lurking monsters.
Spider Queen is being a major bitch, store owners either need more health potions in stock, or potion ingrediants.

There's a merchant for each of the base ingredients, and then your camp store has infinite flasks and potency items.

Yea, going back to Dorf City and camp isn't so bad, but going for Elf Town and The Circle is longer than I would like when I'm ten feet away from Branka's journal. I'm rejiggering my group so Wynne lays down the heals, Shale Stonehearts, and my other two pound on the queen.

If anything, it'd be a good chance to unload all the loot you've been hoovering up.

Always kill smaller mobs first. Always.

And yeah the full Dorf Dorf Arc gave me like 60-80 gold!

Got a bit tired of main quest and rolled that Dwarf Guy. The Dwarf Noble opener is pretty fantastic. Just gotta.. yawn.. get through a repeat of the other half of the intro. Then I can start representing JUSTICE!

Dwarf Noble is definitely my favorite, though Human Noble is pretty good.
