I would agree, but where you'd expect to store your gear in camp, by the wagon train, there's someone who wants you to pay $15 for the service.

And are you seriously giving EA the benefit of the doubt, Alex? Is that really what you're doing?

I'm not having any real issues with managing my inventory space.  I don't craft a whole lot, so I rarely bypass 60 items in my inventory unless I'm on an extended dungeon crawl or just haven't been selling stuff when I have the chance.  Corpses don't disappear, so I'm don't feel particularly pressed about my loots.

I wouldn't say I'm giving EA the benefit of the doubt so much as I'm not going to fault Bioware for something that is probably EA's fault.  Then again, I'm not bothered by the inventory limit or lack of item box so...

Edit: Also, I think it's kind of being blown out of proportion (but it's TA so I've got my grains of salt ready).

I just fought...Anub'Arak (
Corrupted Spider Queen
).

Lyr dust -- circle tower
Toxin Extract and Deathroot -- shady merchant in the first little house in dust town iirc?
The TE and Deathroot are both wrong.  I'll check on the circle next time I'm there or low on dust.

According to this 1up article, EA had nothing to do with the DLC decision.

Quote
"For what it's worth, EA has nothing to do with this," wrote Zoeller. "The game was designed with limited inventory for a number of reasons, the least of which being to limit save-game size and therefore load times." He went on to explain that the game was originally designed with additional storage in the camp area, but that there are several camps, and people sometimes lost their items. "By the time this problem was discovered we had not enough time to fix the problem, plus, we decided that it was not really necessary anyway since the item limitation was rather generous." He says the Warden's Keep DLC was simply added as a nice additional feature after some brainstorming. "I'm fine with you being upset about the item limit design in the game... but I must protest the 'Oh EA is pushing the limit for more money' tagline, because that's just not what has happened."

"Imagine punching somebody so hard that they turned into a door. Then you found out that's where ALL doors come from, and you got initiated into a murder club that makes doors. The stronger you punch, the better the door. So there are like super strong murderers who punch people into Venetian doors and shit"

Of course, as this other article points out,
Quote
If the inventory space limitation is an intentional design feature to reduce saved game sizes and load times, why can't the solution applied to the DLC also be applied to those of us who don't buy the DLC? And if it's an intentional design feature to force hard choices about what to keep and what to sell, why is that feature being subverted only for people who buy the DLC?

And here's a Bioware producer contradicting Zoeller about how and why the Warden's Keep storage was added.

Zoeller says that "The game was finalized tested without a storage chest. The item limit was never questioned or brought up during the QA phase, after all, it was part of the design." If true, this could be interpreted as one of two things - either the QA testers never ran into the item limit and so offered absolutely no feedback about it, or that the QA was limited to bugtesting, with no questioning of the design or balance at all.  The first would be obvious bullshit, but the second is bullshit and blatant incompetence.  Neither of these are promising options.

Yeah, "obvious bullshit" is exactly the phrase i was going to use for all their meagre protestations. I'm not exactly impressed by the idea that Bioware simply DIDN'T HAVE TIME!!! to code a solution to a storage chest bug, if that's the problem, and given that the game's been in development for like five years, i think anyone reasonable will just go ahead and flip Bioware/EA the bird on this one.

60 items is pretty unreasonably low but now that I'm up to 120 or so I'm pretty content

Some strange bugs got by QA.  Daggers (and non-cross bows?) getting all their damage from strength, instead split between strength and dexterity, seemed kind of like a big thing to miss.

That said, I think the non-viability comment about daggers may have been exaggerated.  I'm doing fine around level 13 (if this is mid).  We'll see how late game goes.  I have been mainly in normal mode, though, having turned the difficulty down to easy when fighting Revenants with bad party makeup.

I haven't found inventory to particularly be an issue thus far. I mean, I'm using my storage, yeah (I bought the digital deluxe edition, the keep was pretty cool), but it's mostly for convenience - stuff I know I won't be able to use for some time - than actual necessity. I was hovering around fifty of seventy slots used, and there's a backpack I haven't bought yet.

I really, severely doubt that the inventory thing was a malicious plot on the part of EA/Bioware. The apparent presence of the guy in your camp even if you don't have the DLC is much more irritating than any inventory system - and it's not like it's going to be all that helpful anyways, since the chest in question is on the northwest corner of the map, so it's not super-accessible anyways - I'm not putting all my crafting reagents and shit in there, for example.

Finally got it working. PhysX.dll problems on my end with graphics cards and drivers and rage for a few busy days there.  ::(:

Started out as a human mage. Gotta say, its got more depth and attention to detail than most RPG's I remember playing in recent memory. Almost reminds me of a stylish FF10 mixed with Baldur's Gate combat system.

First time play through, so I don't care about min/max situations right now.

Fuckin' ass I love mage. Beefed up my healing tree and started getting 'necromancy' type spells. Mass Regeneration doesn't seem to do much though.

I bought the regular game on steam.

I bought the wardens keep DLC for seven dollars.

I played the game a bit.

The game is patched.

The game thinks I don't own the DLC content anymore.

Support says "Log in using the same account you bought it on." What the fuck do you think I'm doing?....

So yeah, you can't load saves that started with DLC content if the game suddenly up and decides you don't own them anymore.  Filed a ticket on help.dragonage.com.  Not expecting much in the way of a meaningful reply.

ha ha, yeah, bioware says they don't handle complaints regarding DLC, and are evidently just telling people to go bug EA. EA, of course, has no help page for Dragon Age. :perfect:

If ever a game should be pirated, this is it.

Could try opening up Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Settings and open AddIns.xml in notepad, searching for "requiresauthorization", and setting any 1s to 0s.  That works in non-Steam versions, Steam might do it differently.

Burrito linked me to a giant help post that had lots of ideas on what to do.

There's an updater service I stopped and restarted.... seems to work.

Not for the ones that require authorization, i.e. Warden's Keep and Golemtowne :whoops:

You can force load any save file, regardless of DLC. Just try loading the file again and it gives you the force load option.

What, you mean the XBOX version I got is inferior and has bugs that dramatically change the game's balance (for the worse) that can never be fixed? :perfect:
