yes. the worst thing i can say about the ending of DA1 was that it took a long time, but that's partially my fault, because i played Arcane Defender so EVERYTHING took a really long time.

I liked Dragon Age 1's Star Wars Ending. I have to agree, for everything I liked about DA2 - which was honestly most of the game - the ending was incredibly fucking stupid, came entirely out of left field and raised a lot of questions that no doubt they will try to answer with 19.99 DLC.

I like Bioware games. I refuse to pay for Bioware games. I'm not going to not play them. I'm just not going to fucking pay for them.

"The most frustrating thing about DA:O (as I've said broken record times before) is that the console versions don't have command queues. So I have a bad habit of cancelling spells or actions before they activate but after they've been moved to cooldown."

You guys can DO that?

...fff

I didn't know that about Loghain, but I still feel Two Worlds II had a better job of Evil Dictator We Don't Kill(tm).

Fallback achieved.

The PC version doesn't have command queues either?

Beat Awakening. And Golems. The only other one I'm considering doing is Witch Hunt, and that's mostly because I romanced Morgan with my Warden in DAO.

But.. Eh.. Fuck it. On to DA2. I must continue this adventure. I'm completely hooked on the World of Dragon age at this point.

Then you should probably finish up as much in DA:O as you can before DA2 has a chance to fuck a hole in the lore it can fill with awesome explosions.

I've heard a lot of weird complaints about DA2 but this is definitely the first one about lore.

A blog I particularly respect just posted an argument for the narrative superiority of Dragon Age 2. I haven't read it yet because of spoilers, but I'm curious whether you guys will agree with the position he takes.

He's right. I was actually surprised more than a few times during my first DA2 playthrough and thought I'd done a quest wrong because some of the resolutions absolutely make sense but aren't hero-RPG standard. The game is great at delivering the feel that everything is spiraling out of control despite your heroic deeds because the problems are just so much bigger and more heated than the superhuman efforts of your character. It's very refreshing compared to the average story, and stands in pretty stark contrast to DA:O: Even though Blights usually last over a hundred years, and the Grey Wardens were all but wiped out, YOU'RE SO AWESOME YOU STOPPED IT ALL IN A YEAR YEAAAAAAAAH!

Blights last over a hundred years?

All I know is that somewhere they mention how you end the blight before it's really begun. And... Well, given the geographic location of orzamarr, probably kept the dwarves alive for at least another century.

i could probably write a really, really long post about how this guy's just another fanboy apologist, but i don't feel like saying anything besides

  • Yes, the game doesn't offer you much choice -- it's definitively a linear rushjob
  • Demon's Souls did everything DA2 did much, much better, besides fucking demure welsh demonspawn.

First Blight was almost 200 years, second was 90, although the third and fourth were much shorter, presumably due to a huge Grey Warden presence and Blights being remembered pretty distinctly.

yeah, really. everything they tried to do with the story was just so fucking hackish in comparison to other, better, usually japanese? games (also dialog)

Hm. Do I bother with Golems before doing witch hunt for the import data?

I think I've spent about $150 on DA:O already.

Your choice, but Golems doesn't offer anything world-shaking in the transfer sense.
