So I just realized that due to a bug I can no longer activate Sigrun's personal quest like I should. This is infuriating because I hate about 80% of the characters in awakening but somehow, I like Sigrun.

I MUST PASS HER PERSONAL QUEST.

Oh well, I guess I just replay awakening and work around the bug.

Quote
If The Warden is imported from Dragon Age: Origins, and the origins is that of Dwarf Commoner, Sigrun will know and be in awe of you and would ask you to sign her helmet.

If Bioware remakes DA:O it would be a lot easier for everybody if they just came out and told you Dwarf Commoner is the Correct Origin in the instruction manual.

Your choice, but Golems doesn't offer anything world-shaking in the transfer sense.

So, it's been a minor thing that I've been bitching about constantly, but I'm playing this on an X-BOX. I found the fix and assumed that it didn't work for console versions. I will double check.

Second, we're talking about prepping a save file to import into DA2. Those rewards are immaterial to my concerns.

Thanks for your efforts though!

So, playing DA2 now...

It's really more like Dragon Age Origins: Gaiden than a continuation of the original story. Apparently that will have to wait for the sequel

Turns out you were wrong! Ah... balls.

Then again, I'm still traipsing around chapter 1. I think I'm worrying way too much about accumulating paragon and renegade points for my favorite peeps.

I kind of like the more action-y combat, but at the same time the whole thing feels unreal. As a two-hander I very seldom feel like my swings have weight or that my enemies have substance. I kind of liked the human-sized combatant fighting and outside of the "DARK EPIC FANTZEE" deathblows, I felt like shit had weight and the enemies I fought were worthy opponents. I thought it was kind of cool when a warrior parried my arcane warrior's attacks. But functionally this is window-dressing nitpicking.

Speaking of nitpicking, when did the elves become na'vi? When did darkspawn turn into really fucking pale folks and not horribly twisted facsimiles of healthy sentients? I haven't encountered any Qunari, but I have a feeling I'll be annoyed at how they have horns too.

I have revised my opinion since then to Dragon Age isn't a series about any particular characters, it's a series about a world. In each game you will play some sort of legendary figure within that world, but the story that gets progressed isn't the story of the Warden Commander, or the Champion, but that of the world itself.

I've heard and agreed with that sentiment before, but since I haven't yet left the deep roads expedition, I haven't yet seen the full, compelling argument for that yet.

Also the timeline is a little fuzzy here and there. How'd Anders get to Kirkwall so soon after his super-positive epilogue with me? We were best mage bros.

The fact that I may have a bug stemming from their buggy importing scheme is also upsetting.

I GOT ALL THE UPGRADES FOR VIGIL'S KEEP DAMMIT.

DA2 for $5.

Still probably not going to get it myself, since as far as I know EA hasn't smoothed out its authentication horseshit.  But if anybody else wants it, there it is.

Meanwhile, the first game, with the expansion and DLC, is $7.50.  I already bought the game and expansion anyway; it's pretty great but from the reviews it looks like the Ultimate bundle version has the same authentication bullshit as DA2.

This must be seen to be believed:

Baldur's Gate II Redux : Irenicus Dungeon Escape - New 3D Cutscene

Re-doing BG2 in DA:O engine is one of those things that seems like such a crazy, impossible ideas.. but apparently they're making progress.

That was pretty impressive, though I hope they redo the incredibly horrifically bad armor models and textures. DA:O was a really supremely ugly game and I feel like it holds up much worse than the 2d infinity engine did.

I'm not sure what "it" is, but I am wondering how Dragon Age Origins is ugly and what dramatically better looking 2009 titles it is being compared to.

One can hope, but I feel like getting it all into the engine is a first step. Tweaking the engine/effects/textures after translating that much content will probably be easy.

Shinra, I don't want to alarm you, but you may want to check your scrotum for bandits. It appears that there may be some you need to get off your nuts.

More worried about how they'll rebalance the thing. DA:O is its own tactics-y thing.

I am generally stoked about he ability to play more Baldur's Gate 2 in other, new formats.

Baldur's Gate 2 ReDux - Dragon Age: Origins

Hmm. at some point during the combat it says "Cure Light wounds" So maybe they'll be re-working all the old rules/abilities in too? They're using a mob from DA:O as that tentacle beast you fight in Irenicus' sewer, but there had to be placeholders somewhere in there.
