I thought I would be really bad with the Direct Hit and not use it at all, but I found out I can use it at times if I'm willing to be really aggressive with my loadout modification.

If I'm 'on' (i.e. I'm in that magical land where I can aim tolerably), then I can swap for the Direct Hit, but if I'm my usual hopeless self, then I should quickly change to the regular launcher (or not swap out in the first place). 

Also, the key can partially rest with being able to swap between the mental modes of "lob a bunch of shit nearby, use terrain, try to juggle" with "hit him dead in the fucking face".

The biggest thing the Direct Hit HELPS with is the fact that you're much less dependent on guessing an opponent's trajectory, because you don't need to lead them nearly so much.

As excited as I was for Eyelandin' Demo, I must confess that I am still waiting for Patch Mania to die down so that I can try it without dueling six other Eyelanders at once.

I like this update. I really need two more achievements for the buff banner. I have a feeling I'd like the demo shit if I could be fucked playing demo to get them.

I am so bad with the direct hit, though. It hurts me.

alternatively, get real practice by playing tf2 and aiming at people who move the way people actually do and also are trying to kill you.

I just thought you guys should know that unless you need mid-air stickies to win because you enjoy God Mode that the Scottish Resistance is otherwise a flat upgrade to the Sticky Launcher.

Best gun ever.

Using the Sticky Launcher as your only weapon is for new Demomen or low-ridin' they see me trollin' gameplay style. Once you can actually aim the pipe bomb launcher, you can use the Scottish Resistance to supplement an outlandish number of Just-as-Planned traps.

My first night trying it out and I was winning 2v1s all over the place. I think I kept anyone from going from B-to-C on Gravelpit for two minutes straight and for about six kills.

Also 0.4 ain't shit and you can still actively use the SR in a fight. So like I said, unless you wanna farm mid-air sticky kills for the achieve or you can only get demo kills with that + blind-fire mortarin', the SR is worth trying out.

I'm trying a Pipe-SR-Eyelander build. -25 Max HP for a chance to build up to super-speed/soldier-health conventional demo is A-OK by me!

Before you ask, I don't actively hound down Eyelander kills, I just have the Eyelander on hand in case a traditional "finish 'em off" opportunity presents itself. I'm also a monster of melee anyway, so it happens more often than you'd think.

I think I've had a few targeless eyelander conversations with Crouton and Patito. It seems viable, but I never considered coupling it with the SR. That seems pretty reasonable though. Once you farm some heads, no one but a scout is going to be able to keep up with you, and once you're like that, not only do you have quicker access to more (crazy) health, but your ability to lead people into sticky traps increases.

On the other hand, considering how fast you can move, relying on relaid stickies might be unnecessary! But since you're using the SR as a default otherwise, I guess it doesn't particularly matter.

It's more that I'd rather adapt to this style of play than hold my breath that Valve realizes that most of the default melee weapons need upgrades.

People caught onto the targe real quick-like; the charge usually only works on people I catch off guard, and soldiers/pyros are usually smart enough to whip out a shotgun on me. I might give this build a shot.

I think I agree on the SR being better than the normal sticky gun, but only on defense. I mean, if you're going around setting traps on offense you're being about as useful as a sniper on 2fort. And if you're actually attacking those 0.4 seconds really make a difference between blowing up like 5 people with the old fashioned 4 stickies, or having those 5 people turn around and shoot you while you wait for your stickies to activate.

Word, son 

I tried SR on offense today and yeah, those extra seconds are HUGE. And if you're being rolled and need to quickly staunch the bleeding, the SR isn't much good either.
Hell, The Geoman taught me that a GOOD demoman knows when to blow his traps without looking directly at them (even if they're not on a point).

I dunno... to me, it's beginning to smell more and more like the SR is just a 'win-more' weapon. I mean, the SR's cool and all, but the regular sticky launcher just seems more useful in most situations that matter.

Forget about traps on defense with the SR, if you thought one set of stickies around a cart was annoying, now try 3 sets of stickies along the tracks. I'm kind of a dick sometimes.

Yeah, I suppose it's okaty for a really linear map style like payload, but I think I still prefer the regular... most of the time.
