Terrible Stories
« on: December 26, 2009, 01:00:31 PM »

Doing random heroics with me tankin' and Wiseman DPSin'. Draw Halls of Reflection.

Dick-wipe hunter starts some "36k buffed hp, tank fails" and "terrible gear lol" stuff. Also I guess my strategy of actually Warrior Ping-Ponging around the open area and grabbing solid aggro on things is "terrible lol."

But he shuts up after the first two waves and we kill the first boss alright.

Then he starts it up again near the end of wave six. "your gear is awful."

"Spirit Arise" "You leave the group." "Wiseman leaves the group."  :hi5:

:fuckyou: My gear's "awful" but at least I won't be repairing it. I hope those sick Gearscore burns were worth it? And all my stuff's 219 or better with half of it 232 anyway.. some people.

36k is fucking easily enough for motherfucking HoR. How can you be that used to being carried that you whine about someone being well-geared when you're not even healing them? Some people's children, i swear.

I'm pretty sure Dameron's 4pc 226 Ulduar set gemmed SOlid sky only nets about 33 in bear unbuffed.

It makes me laugh pretty hard to hear people seriously and without trolling argue that 26k is maybe enough for an easy heroic like VH but certainly not Halls of Stone, considering 22k or whatever was just fine even for the Mike memorial all-
in this-is-how-we-did-it-in-beta strategy.

1: people are SO fucking bad.

2: gearscore is literally the worst thing WoW has ever seen. I really, really want them to break it in cata.

They attempted to break the gearscore mod in 3.3 but the mod creator quickly got around it. If blizzard is merciful we'll see a C&D sent to their doorstep before Cata launches. It is most certainly the worst thing in the history of ever, though, given that two low ILVL trinkets will completely throw your gearscore off and those two trinkets might be best in slot (eg Greatness) - not to mention that it is so easy to get a high gearscore that it does not necessarily mean you've actually worked for that gearscore.

So, CoT:Strath pops, which is always the worst thing ever.

We are at the bronze drake boss with 7 minutes left, with one good DK with Ramaldani's and some other decent gear pulling 4100, my DK as a tank doing 2050, a Mage doing 500k less overall damage than I am and 1800, and a Rogue with the same overall damage as the mage but 1500.  Things are going fine; the only deaths have been the mage to the hyperspeed charge from the town hall boss and then the mage again from pulling elites in the gauntlet.

After we start the Bronze Drake boss, the other DK shifts into Frost Presence and taunts off me.  I let him almost die and taunt back, and he does it again.  End of the fight: "had to you're super squishy".

Now, he is at 28k health in DPS gear in Frost Presence.  I'm almost at 30, and am additionally defcapped.

I tell him, "Dude, this has been fine so far, this is the weakest hitting boss in here, and the place could be tanked with 22k health and half the mitigation at launch."

"then why the fuck are you at 26k getting crit for half your health?"

"Have not gotten crit this whole instance"

"lies"

(Flash of Light-only 21k mana Holy Paladin): "dude your hard to heal"

"I'm at 537 defense"

"CAP IS 540"

"That is the raid boss cap; the heroic cap is 535"

"540"

EDIT EDIT EDIT:

Double DPS spec, but has broken his 4pc t9 bonus or never gotten it in favor of a 245 badge hat.

Got an AK group that didn't have enough DPS to kill the adepts on what's-her-face or beat the vampire boss' healing. Yelled at them kind of a lot.

happened in every OK group I've been in. The most recent one the bear tank & healer were more than capable of healing through the berserks though

He's actually correct about the Heroic cap being 535. There will never be a level 83 or boss level mob in a heroic (other than Arthas)

Rico was the guy saying that 537 defense is acceptable.

And yeah I wish dudes would remember that at one time, Ulduar 25 was cleared while wearing an assortment of 200-213 epics.

This isn't 3.1.

Greatness is still a really solid trinket, there may be better options out there but the point is that losing a substantial chunk of gearscore for wearing a trinket that's still really good is kind of fucking stupid.

I'm leveling up a warrior. The new dungeon system is pretty awesome, but at the lower levels most of what I'm running into is bored alts who don't take lowbie instances seriously. The end result is a lot of rogues running around pulling mobs, soloing down enemies, pulling three or four groups into the room, etc; maybe it's just my imagination, but I don't remember people fucking around this much when instances were locked to server. It's like not having to worry about your local reputation + quick seeding into instances brings out the total gibbering retard in people.

Yeah, I heard about Gearscore and then I was like "Oh, awesome, now I'm totally safe from the temptation of renewing my subscription ever again."

On Earthen Ring Alliance at least, people denouncing GearScore outnumber those who use it by a wide margin. Which is good, I encourage the trend of completely blasting someone trying to form a raid with it.

Gearscore in and of itself is useful and has a lot of other nice functionality besides the aggregate tooltip number.  In its absence, people spamming LFG non-heroic VH GS>5000 would just be asking for a link to 25-man One Light or something.

So I did a random heroic today with my rogue, hoping to get a good one-hander for PvP. Little did I know I'd have a paladin tank that can't hold aggro on AoE or single targets. Thankfully I have evasion and vanish. So a rogue CAN tank the last boss of Forge. Sorta. Wanting to avoid the long 15 minute que's, I did the same group with Pit. So long..
