Super Mario Brothers Wii
« on: January 02, 2010, 04:59:45 PM »

Doom's a dip shit.

And the game is really fun. Does a great throw back to my Nintendo days. Music is catchy and there are some good graphical nuances. The best and worst feature is probably your ability to interact with other players in most ways. Example, picking them up, blocking their jumps, jumping ontop of them, eating them while riding a yoshi, stealing their power ups, making the camera go ahead and kill any laggers.
Doom's the shittiest shit shit, FUCK YOU DOOM YOU COCK SUCKER SHIT.
EDIT:

HEY GUYS I'M DOOM I'MA GRAB MY PARTNER ON A SKY LEVEL, JUMP OFF A LEDGE AND THROW HIM AND KILL US BOTH MOMENTS FROM COMPLETION

This game is ideal for revealing its players' true natures. It's like the Serial Prisoner's Dilemma only there are propeller hats.

I think the best part is that by World 3, I made a subtle mental resolve to just be totally chill for the rest of the night. A lot of Wiseman's deaths were him running into enemies/pits/lava and I spent more time walking than running.

A coy sentence here or there and my bro was boiling like a tea kettle.
Of course, I orchestrated the other half of his deaths. There's also an intense majesty to dodging the returning player bubble and sprinting through the rest of the level, forcing the bubble to drag against the left side of the screen.
Oh, and he left out the other best part:

It will be hard to tell the difference until he announces it over voice-chat, yes.

The Sociopath's Guide to Keeping Friends, lesson 2: Avoid deliberately infuriating your friend. We all love a good practical joke now and then, but it can be carried too far. Be aware (using empathy, the skill covered in lesson 1) of your friend's demeanor; in particular, pay close attention to whether they are intently focused on accomplishing a particular goal. If it seems that they are, repeatedly stymieing their efforts despite repeated protests may irritate them, and indicate to them that you desire their failure. While it is true that under certain circumstances, you will have a legitimate cause to obstruct their goals, such as competition, and that in such cases they will most likely be quite understanding of you, there are other circumstances wherein it will be difficult for your friend to sympathize with your behavior, since it will appear to them to be motivated by cruelty, which will earn their disapproval (see Appendix 1: Disreputable Traits). It is important to recognize these circumstances, because, under them, systematic opposition will cause you to appear not as a friend but as its opposite, an enemy.

Multiplayer in this really is unlike anything else. Just the simple decision to make the players collide with each other leads to so many different ways to enjoy playing a game with others, and it all emerges so naturally and shifts so fluidly.

Oh, the game is brilliant. I love it.
