This seems like a run-of-the-mill story, but there was a little nagging voice in my head that made this seem familiar for some reason.

Then I remembered.

Sometimes life imitates, er, well... I guess you can't call it art.

In fairness, those were actually some sensibly witty replies on her part. I LOLed.

30 Republican Senators think Gang Rape is pretty cool if Haliburton is doing it.

Yeesh, not even Jon Stewart can make that one funny.

My greatest fear is that at this rate Norondor's "anybody who is the slightest bit conservative is automatically a DC serial villain" rhetoric may become entirely justified.

Meanwhile, enjoy your Cheesegate, Canada.

Party of No, indeed. I don't think I'll refer to them as the GOP or Republicans anymore, ease-of-use in conversation be damned.

Something I don't understand is why republicans voting against this is something that the dems would whine about:  This is propaganda gold.

I'm not too sure about what the rules for poli ads are, but if there are smart people out there,  they will put this on highway billboard, subway (not bus) and talk radio ads well before any election is mentionned.  If anything, shit like this can turn the subject of the dialogue around...

Name the organization the coMmon. Sense initiative - make it non-partisan and you're gold.  Dems do a lot of dumb shit as well...

So far the Dems have proved to be an embarassing failure when it comes to harnessing public opinion rage. Just look at the medical debate. They should be shoving the spectre of children, solid middle-class families, and white-haired old grandmothers dying in alleyways after being denied coverage by cold-hearted insurance companies. But they don't.

The worst part is that almost all of the possible reasons why are downright terrifying.

Something about those that preach values.

Big thing in todays citizen:

How Obama's campaign press dude was able to control the media and the message.

.. But I fail to see your point on the truth of why.  Midterm time here.

Right now though the Obamacrats seem to have lost control of the message.  Worse is the lot who they've lost  it to.

Solution:  more money in order to create a 24-hour PBS.  Fill it with daily news slots, a local news half-slot, make it credible, yet enjoyable and relevant to the areas of American interests - 3 years cut funding and bring in ad revenue

Host on Internet, sell to sat providers, fuck the cable companies, they can fend to themselves until they make a profitable offering...

For fraks sake,  am I the only one who thinks of this stuff?

The thing is, the party of No would call that a "GOV'MENT TAKE OVER OF THE MEDYA!!!"  And the Demomen don't have the balls and are half-blind to reality, it's better than living in bizzaro world, but it's still an impediment.

Back to the Gangrape bill, the department of defense doesn't like it, because obviously it means that they'll have to do more work, and it damages the military industrial complex.  Which is a very good thing, imho.

Pretend I posted the "SON, I AM DISAPPOINT" graphic here.

Now, I think that what happened was terrible, but what's going to happen is it's going to strain the defense industry even more than it is already, and I'd hate to see the industry I started out in suffer even more than it already is.

's probably why I'm going to college now.

Can the defense industry not operate without raping people?  Because if that's the case we may not need just an amendment to a defense spending bill, we may need to rethink this whole thing from the bottom up.

McDohl:  Does the "contracted workers can sue" bill all-encompassing, setting up companies for major litigious affairs from potentially disgruntled employees?

Because I believe that's the only ground where being against the bill makes sense, especially the way court costs run.

The bill precludes government military contracts going to military contractors with mandatory arbitration clauses for civil rights or sexual harassment in their contracts.  It doesn't preclude both parties voluntarily agreeing to arbitration, it doesn't preclude mandatory arbitration for other matters.  There is no sane, non-evil objection to the merits of the bill.
