As someone who has literally
lived around these things for a few years, I might have a few things to observe:
Cruise lines are cattle vessels, which encourage their userbase to gamble and spend spend spend.
When dropping off in Victoria, it's usually in less-than-12-hour increments. And a lot of these folks are fat american'ts.
Also: A lot of them are larger than the Titanic.
Some protips:
Euro cruises which are smaller still beat the trend and go from place to place with enough time to get a good couple days to explore each location.
Large cruise ships don't.
For the love of god, do not go anywhere near the horn of Africa, and if you do, go with a British or Norwegian flag. The captain will be less likely to do something stupid.
Also, considering how people consider trips to Cuba and Mexico more and more these days.. Inclusive hotel packages without even considering leaving the hotel grounds...
Lets just say I am starting to think the cruise ship is starting to look smart; but still not close to my type of gig.
