While guerilla and terrorist is still a term left for debate anywhere in the international halls, the general gist is anyone who uses deliberate tactics to cause fear in the population at large through direct action.
While many of those who respect the confederate military on several grounds understand that the complete and unquestionable defeat of the confederation was an absolute requirement to ensure the continuity of the union which we all benefit from, a standing military that engages legitimate targets including military bodies, centres of transport and logistics (sorry back then that included villages and cities) cannot be terrorist.
A nation state can support terror, but is not itself a terrorist entity, nor a guerrilla entity.
As far as slavery and terrorism goes I will withold my thoughts as I have already demonstrated in a smaller public sphere that my knowledge of the events and actions leading to the union's abolition of slavery is lacking. That being said, changing from a police state to a sharia police state through a sustained campaign of bombings, kidnappings and assassinations is guerilla operations and terrorism (or, depending on the vantage point.. although to the HN it will always be La Terrorism!... . breaking off from a larger nation state to maintain the status quo through locally elected governments through the use of standing militaries is not.
The use of the CNN logo to push such balderdash to the masses will only serve to polarize them, something which only the likes of Rupert Murdoch, or those freaks who publish bias that comes out of 24, metro and xtra-style freebies (sorry buge, but their angle on the human rights commission has destroyed any credibility) which only serve as advertisement-stuffed aggregate-boxes for masses too cheap to purchase a real paper with opinion and letters to the editor and editorials so bad they give me cancer.
