This guy is such a dork. Apparently, he considers himself a 'freeman', which is an actual movement (mostly in, surprise, New Hampshire) of people who walk around claiming that law is purely contractual and as they never agreed to any of these laws they are free to follow them or not as they please.
Well, I mean, it's interesting from a philosophical point of view.
There's a bit in one of RAW's books -- Shchrodinger's Cat if I'm not mistaken -- where someone goes to an art show that consists of a guy reciting phrases like "Blue uniforms are real. Guns are real. Police are a social fiction. Brown uniforms are real. Guns are real. The Army is a social fiction."
I'm inclined to agree, as far as it goes -- it's not really hippie-dippy "gravity would cease to exist if we all stopped believing in it" nonsense, it's "the police would have no legal authority if we all stopped recognizing it". Which is true. A sudden uprising of a few hundred million people would tend to negate the effectiveness of police, laws, and courts.
But they've still got stun guns. And, barring that sudden uprising of a few hundred million people, you probably shouldn't expect them to face any legal consequences for using one when you try to shove past them.
I'm inclined to think it was probably an excessive use of force and they could have just had security drag him out. But I don't think it would be worth trying to convince a jury of that. If he made that video thinking it was going to make him more sympathetic to people, well, he may want to invest in some coaching.
