You guys are ALL wrong. I eat nothing but candy and fatty foods and drink nothing but soda and look at me!
I can't keep the weight on! Seriously. I'm trying to break 150 here.

Hah. Still under 25, are we?

Well, yes. But I think that most of it is basically because I am a horrible freak of nature and consider this a side-effect of my heart condition.

And also you're below the age of 25.

I'm 6' 4" and about 140 pounds. Depending on who you ask, I am anywhere between 10 and 25 pounds underweight. I am 20.

This is not a product of anything but my family history. All the men in my family with like builds stay like this until they begin to drink heavily and develop a beer gut. I have an uncle who is about the same as I am because he never started drinking (and hates our family).

I fall on the side of Lottel knowing his own body than you all knowing his body.

Because you and Lottel are the only board members who have a high metabolism.

When I was about 16 I was told I needed to start eating more fatty foods because I was so seriously underweight that my hormone balance was screwed up and I was in danger of developing tits.

My parents were accused of not feeding me properly when I was growing up because I was just way underweight.  They started feeding me ice cream for breakfast.  It's only been in the past 6 months or so that I've actually been able to see physically that I've gained some weight.  I'm finally at 100 pounds.  But I look better with it so I'm not too worried.

But yea, I agree that whether you know your own body or not you will probably notice a difference mid-20s.  But on the other hand, people generally are what they are in terms of shape.

I just mean that I have a family history of high metabolisms, and if Lottel has some kind of heart thing then I don't really think you can say it's mostly due to age.

I pretty much eat nothing but protein and carbs these days. Pretty sure if I ate anything else I'd just collapse inward and go supernova.

It's not my CHOICE to always consume all this sugar, you know.
I have to. My body craves it. My heart beats waaaay to damn fast. Even while sleeping. (If I remember correctly, my last EKG read me at... roughly 143 at rest?)
It's gotten to the point I can't stand to eat anything but dessert. I have to force myself to eat delicious things such as lasagna and other forms of meat. My tongue just does not like them anymore.

I apologize for derailing the thread.

I only buy fruits, vegetables, meat, pasta, and rice and I'm doing okay

I hope you buy spices, because otherwise your meals must be terrifyingly bland. :/

Fruits can flavor meats, vegetables can flavor pasta, and rice can be flavored by cooking it in whatever's left in the pan.

This is true, but requires a particularly deft hand with the cookpot, not minding a lesser range of flavours, and patience.

Spices don't cause weight gain or health issues (except for stuff like salt, which is arguably not a spice per se), so I don't see why not to have them. But then, I suspect she just left that off her list and we're just being silly.

You are being silly.  But I assumed it was a given.  And I seriously don't like salty stuff so I never use that to flavor anything that isn't tequila... which I don't buy.

I have a small herb garden which is enough for me since I live alone.  I haven't bought any spices or sauces in a long time anyway, but I do use them to make something to stir fry in or to spice up (lol) pasta sauces.  Brentai's right about the vegetables and pasta though, they go a long way in adding flavor.

I had a similar problem last time I got laid off.

My present job has me running back and forth across an 8-acre lot constantly though, so I'm just about back down to where I was before.  Although even then, I still need to lose about 25 pounds...

Don't buy a cheap one. This seems self-evident, but I know Parish had a problem with this last year(or maybe the year before) when he bought a cheap bike and the mechanism burned out from too much use. Which is ridiculous, because "too much use" should never be a phrase you hear about an exercise bike.
