apparently blizzard updated battle.net with some pointers to cataclysm beta. So what are we thinking here, October-december release of the finished product? Anyone remember when the Wrath beta hit?

I am amazed by how often I see the last post on this board is by Buge.

So, apparently rather than deal with all the bullshit of trying to control leaks, blizzard just decided to lift the NDA for the closed alpha. MMO-champion is fucking plastered with screenshots of new orgrimmar + a lot of the finished zone maps. Looks like they've changed a lot of old world zones to be more coherant and to encourage more PVP.

Really?  I guess we'll have to see the level scaling but in terms of geography pretty much only the Barrens and Thousand Needles seem substantially changed.  I guess Blasted Lands got a swamp and Ashenvale got a volcano.

EDIT: Only one new type of ore, possibly?

the main thing I'm noticing is towns are being moved or new towns are being added in. Like, there's a horde camp directly next to the alliance camp in Ashenvale and WPL, for example.

So, something I'm noticing a LOT in these new screenshots - Twilight's Hammer architecture is everywhere. I get the feeling that now that the Scourge has been stopped in it's tracks, Blizzard is shifting the new focus to the Twilight's Hammer as the big antagonists. They were always there, esp during the AQ events, but the reality is that they were really always just lackeys in the past. In the end it was us who opened the AQ gates, they were just standing around and worshipping what poured out. Seeing the Hammer come back as a serious threat would be a nice change of pace, and I always liked them better than the scourge as an enemy.

edit: OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD HORDE IS FINALLY GETTING A TRAM

If you look at the leaked Shaman Talent Trees it is clear that Shamans will be the Flavor of the Expansion.

Maybe I'm retarded but I'm not seeing any changes in Boub's talent tree leak.  Advise?

It's not every class yet, or even every tree.  Balance has a few changed but nothing in Feral, etc.

I think the Shaman tree is one of the first they've actually begun stream-lining. There's a ton of room compared to my current super rigid specs.

Shaman Talent Changes:

Elemental - New talent in the second-to-last tier that gives a 30% chance for every Flame Shock tic to reset Lava Burst's cooldown.

Earthquake as the new 41, Elemental Mastery moved down to like Tier 5. Earthquake is a channeled AoE that deals physical damage and has a 30% chance to knock-down, which I imagine halts active movement for a second and interrupts like mad.

Enhancement - Pursuit of Justice? Toughness moved down about two tiers to make it accessible to other specs! Searing Totem stacks a DoT? Totem Health(OK no.) Dual-Wield at 30? +Storm and Primal Strike damage in first tier. Hell this entire tree is ridiculously stream-lined and they apparently dropped the +5% Crit to Spells/Melee talent that made it mandatory as an Ele/Resto off-tree. Apparently they're buffing Lava Lash to interact with Searing Totem to increase the consistent burst Enhancement does! Fantastic.

Resto - Shock a guy, get a nearly free and much boosted healing spell. -10% taken while casting.

Combo this with Healing Rains and Spiritwalker's Grace and let's be optimistic about Hurl Weapon and Primal Strike and you're looking at a class that can almost never be stopped from moving and always has a way to attack? We'll also generally benefit from the new Shield Block mechanic being a flat 30% reduction.

So both the Draenei and Tauren Paladin mounts are up on MMO-Champ.

Tauren Paladin BIS race/class combination confirmed. The non-epic Tauradin Kodo alone looks better than half of my epic ground mounts. Also apparently Tauradins are called 'Sunwalkers', which should definitely be a title.

Also I guess Onyxia is undead in Cataclysm. I can't wait to kill her again for my ilvl300 Judgement Helm mk. 5.

I wish you guys were on an RP server. Then I'd have some incentive to join.

I retract my statement

It seriously isn't fair how disgusting the original races look compared to these awesome little bundles of personality.

To troll, because Vol'jin finally becomes a visible bad-ass instead of a behind-the-scenes bad-ass.

Also new starting zone/capital city for them. My "everything old is new again" character I plan to play through at least to 60 is going to be a troll.
