Are the elevators made of tanned hide stretched between giant teeth? And made to function by means of massive stone gears?

I don't know about the other zones, but the new tirisfal glades is fantastic. It's still a little slow, but there's a firm feeling of story progression, both in what has changed since pre-cata and what you're doing within the zone itself. It also introduces a terribly badass new character who I have a sneaking suspicion will be important later on, either in later low level zones, in the level 85 zones, or a future instance (possibly heroic SM?)

Bal, Mocto and I rolled troll yesterday afternoon and ended up playing for 7 or 8 hours straight.  Questing in the Barrens between dungeons was too fun to stop.  THE BARRENS.

You ride shotgun on a kodo.

Early dungeons are actually pretty hard.  Had a boss crit me for 260 when I had 1k health and heals were in the 125 range.  RFC and WC are a little streamlined, but oh god everyone roll an alt and do Deadmines.  Right now.  I mean it.

Repeating a conversation from last night, other MMOs are pretty fucked now.  People were having trouble launching with good enough content to take a shot at WoW when WoW's early-game was still 6 years ago.  This is like taking a dump on their chest and then having it topple over and get in their mouth.

The best part of everything isn't the aesthetic redesign, although that's pretty much uniformly wonderful, it's the quest design. No more do you just run back and forth from the cross roads, and your quest area, and then back, and then back to the quest area, and then back to the crossroads, and on and on. It all flows logically from place to place. Mini-quest hubs are scattered all over the place in addition to the kind you're used to, so you will usually be sent to an area with something like a breadcrumb from say The Crossroads, and then when you get there there are a couple guys with quests related to that place, then you do them all, turn them in, and only then go back to The Crossroads. It feels super natural.

Another outgrowth of this superior quest design manifests in the dungeons themselves, where all the quests that must be completed within a dungeon are given by people right at the beginning of the thing, and usually turned in by making your way back to the same place, or, in the case of Deadmines and Shadowfang Keep, the quest givers catch up with you. Those dungeons stand out in many ways, however, because they've been completely redesigned in terms of mob and encounter structure. Most other dungeons have merely been somewhat streamlined.

Yeah I just ran Deadmines and holy shit best expansion ever.

Also agree with Rico: Blizzard has just solidified their legacy and lead in the most ridiculous, over-powering fashion. The 800 pound gorilla is now King Kong.

Shadowfang Keep
Speaking of that, did anyone figure out how we were supposed to not die during the first boss' 5-man force choke?

Also even some of the mini-hubs have inns and flightpoints and pretty much every major zone quest hub has class trainers.

You need to be topped off before it happens, as he does almost no other damage aside from hitting the tank or channeling something onto a random DPS.

Was still pretty god damn surprising.

I took so much pride in the fact that I had never played WoW. Not once. Then I was thinking about it the other night and realized that WoW is arguably the cultural equivalent of Woodstock to our generation, and wound up making my trial account three hours before the servers went down, so I could say I'd played before the reset. Now the best man at my wedding has informed me that he's getting me the game for Christmas.
 :bam:

I enjoy the fact that the initial orc quest to kill some boars has changed from "go fight boars, they're wandering in the hills behind the camp" to "go slaughter some pigs that are quietly sitting in pens"

Discovery: Baron Ashbury's asphyxiate drops everybody to 1 hp, then he channels a 2.5 second Holy Nova to execute(so any light healing avoids death.)

Trolls regen 5 HP between the last two tics to 1 HP, he over-compensates for 125 damage, Trolls always die on this fight.

One of the things I'm loving about this new mini-quest-hub situation they've got going on, is that it finally shows that blizzard has lost their terrible fear of having, like, 500 flight points on a given continent. It's like someone at Blizzard finally realized that walking from point A to point B just isn't that much fun for some people, esp. when it dominates 70% of your time spent leveling in places like the Barrens. I don't mind that a small zone like Silverpine Forest has 4 (5?) flight points. This does not bother me at all!

Just so no one goes through the worry I did, Kaja, the Tauren NPC that most Horde players have been selling their items to for [length of subscription] is still intact in the Valley of Wisdom. She survived the Cataclysm due to being taller than your average Tauren or Minotaur.

Incidentally, the Valley of Wisdom brings the convenience of Thunder Bluff to Orgrimmar, with an inn, the game's best repair NPC, a forge/anvil, a banker, an auctioneer, and a mailbox all in closer proximity to each other than not only any other section of Orgrimmar, but any town, period, at least those available to the Horde (that I am aware of).

It's a little further from the Flight Master than the Valley of Strength (I think) but in a week that won't matter. Kaja will matter forever.

Also, Tauren Paladin and the accompanying mounts make Cataclysm hands down the best expansion of WoW's career. The feeling of not being a Blood Elf is the greatest thing.
