They're nowhere near as overtuned as the TBC heroics were to begin with, and the loot is universally in line with the difficulty, so I don't care at all that I have to run them a lot. Not that you didn't run them for ages back in the day anyway to get ready for raids.

That's the thing, though.  Once we got the gear we wanted from drops (which happened quickly and will happen quickly again now), we stopped running them almost completely.  Badges didn't become significant until gear made the easier ones insignificant, and even then we didn't touch the harder ones.

It's okay that they're hard since the difficulty is apparently pretty uniform, but the current daily random paradigm wouldn't have stood in TBC because sometimes you'd end up getting Heroic Durnholde.

As it stands, WotLK worked because if I could I block off a half-hour of my day to do the random and know it was only going to take a half an hour.

I can't think of a single encounter that won't be completely overgeared in fairly short order. Just having mostly 346 blues is making things markedly easier. I know you miss jumping on for half an hour and doing a heroic, but that's not what they're actually for.

Even granting the extremely dubious proposition that you won't be agreeing with me two months from now, what experience are you looking for from heroics that you wouldn't be able to have from an instance with half as much trash?  Is there a compelling reason why Halls of Origination should have seven bosses?

Heroic AN was actually pretty hard when we all first hit 80.  We wiped to the watchers and their bullshit blind.  We wiped to skirmishers.  We wiped to the soul-draining guards right before Anub.  We wiped to Pound (because we are morons).  We would somehow find ways to spend upwards of an hour in an instance with like 3 trash pulls because we didn't have enough health/throughput to ignore mechanics.  Six months later, mudflation gets out of control and everybody blames the instances for being too easy while conveniently ignoring the fact that they've doubled their health, quadrupled their damage and healing, and still afk out of Oculus.

THE ADVENTURES OF SEXYLOCK

THE SEXY GOBLIN WARLOCK

DAY 1

I was told to report to a ship to go fuck up the alliance! That's pretty cool because five minutes ago I was one! Then I found this gnome who said he could make me green and i am pretty keen on star trek so

what I didn't expect was my horse turning into a motorcycle but you know

the new smells are weird to

I don't think I shave anymore

DAY 2

The ship was attacked by Leviathan! I ended up being OK but I'm worried about Rydia and Yang. Pretty sure I don't care about Edward

DAY 3

Palom and Porom have joined me on my quest to find and tame the greatest Sea Turtle Mount in history

DAY 4

Fucking sharks.

DAY 5

I think my seahorse is pregnant. He keeps bitching about being the only male that has to carry about the babies. I told him to shut the fuck up because at least he doesn't have to carry a purse for all your spell components and bombs

Meanwhile I went inside Sin and killed my dad who was trying to steal Sin's pearls or something I don't know

DAY 6

Gollum keeps asking me what I have in my pockets. I keep killing him but he keeps coming back. Also an invisible cat pounced me underwater I was almost gonna ask how that was even possible but then I used like fifty fire spells underwater to kill it so yeah

DAY 7

BATTLE-READY BATTLE-MAIDEN, BATTLE-READY

SOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLL STEEEEEEEAAAAAAALLLL

DAY 8

I found Rydia! Only she had weird characters in her name and was a Night Elf now. I figured she changed when she went to live in Leviathan's realm. I tried to get her back in my party but the UI must be bugged or something because all I can do is set her as my focus, whatever that means

DAY 9

My seahorse refuses to go into this fucking cave. I think he is still scared of Leviathan. I tried to tell him that Jules Verne shot him with a cannonball but he just looked at me like I was crazy and went off to find a cave to give birth in. Fucking ingrate. I'm never equipping carrot again

Heroics and raids at the beginning of wrath were incredibly easy compared to heroics in TBC even after tuning. I can't think of a single boss that had a new mechanic in heroic mode dungeons in Wrath. Whereas in Cataclysm almost every boss does, or at least their mechanics are altered to be different enough to create a new challenge. For instance the heroic mode on the first boss in HoO has the same basic mechanic, but changes the execution of it completely.

In a few months, we'll probably be blowing through them, if we're still bothering with them. I know I quit running them once I got into ICC, because there was no point. 70 Valor Points? Please.

It's only been a week since release and the amount of intense bitching from the entire internet about how things aren't as easy as Wrath could deafen every creature on Earth if converted to voice.

I am just laughing and enjoying myself because at worst I was a little tired of two years of Wrath.

But man, I saw an 85 bitching about how "some guild in EU" is 12/12 for dead raid bosses, which magically means he has also completely exhausted this game's content. Full fucking circle, dude.

I've finished eveyr heroic so far and each one is a total blast. The final one we did was black rock caverns. Karsh is possibly the worst thing you will fight. The rest of the instance is really easy.

ultimately that was the best way to actually fight him. 100% serious.

At wrath launch I often found that standing in the blast would kill every non plate class in the party because nobody had the HP to survive it.

Then Blizzard nerfed Loken twice and every heroic went back to being a joke.

at launch, i found that people just could not get running out and back in. they would just stay out or stay in. and since they couldn't melee him at range, i would just order people to put on their nature resist auras/totems and stand right on  him, and it worked much better.

Today in Uldum a Hunter was a dick and got me killed by dragging mobs into my AOE. Upon sending him a PM inquiring as to these actions, he said "lol, needed the mobs."

Later, I found this hunter attempting to tame Madexx. I killed him like a bitch.

Does this make me a bad person?

When I was on the Lost Isles I was heading to kill a quest mob and a Hunter saw me going for it.  So he ran up as quick as he could and launched an arrow before I could finish my spellcast to tag it.  To make a long story short I targeted the hunter to glare at him and watching the quest mob then take him from almost 100% down to a grisly murdered corpse in the sand means I no longer have need of pornography.  Especially the way he sadly, longingly reappeared next to his corpse right as I finished killing the mob.

I can only bitch about low-level tanks.

I do love being accused of not pulling my weight in a group when a druid tries to tank without bear form, though.

This is sadly not a unique phenomena - the wife and I ended up in two randoms where this happened on the way up to 80. It seems that a lot of feral druids in the classic/BC instances at least don't like tanking but do enjoy instant queues, and probably hope that they won't end up in a group that actually expects them to tank. With dual specs costing 10 gold, and most people having heirlooms, usually what'll end up happening is someone in the group declares 'I'll tank' and ends up tanking the whole instance despite having to wait the 20 minute queue to enjoy the DPS privilege.

With warriors, paladins and death knights it's really not so bad, esp. if they outgear the rest of the party, but you can really feel it while a feral cat tries to hold aggro and fails.

In the space of five minutes I just had a warlock break my trap with his demon, wiping us, had the rogue ask which of the two targets in a pull we should attack first (one was marked, the other was in a trap), had a death knight stand around complaining about the tank and not DPSing, and had a priest, after the tank died on the pull, say that when he gets hit hard he's just going to have to let him die because healing all that health will run him out of mana.

I promptly told them all that I would rather chew my arm off than spend one more minute in there with them, and then quit the group. I wasn't given the deserter debuff, leading me to believe there is some genius algorithm that determines if you're party is just that bad or not.
