That druid should jump into a fire and die.

This is sadly not a unique phenomena - the wife and I ended up in two randoms where this happened on the way up to 80. It seems that a lot of feral druids in the classic/BC instances at least don't like tanking but do enjoy instant queues, and probably hope that they won't end up in a group that actually expects them to tank. With dual specs costing 10 gold, and most people having heirlooms, usually what'll end up happening is someone in the group declares 'I'll tank' and ends up tanking the whole instance despite having to wait the 20 minute queue to enjoy the DPS privilege.

With warriors, paladins and death knights it's really not so bad, esp. if they outgear the rest of the party, but you can really feel it while a feral cat tries to hold aggro and fails.
Cat gear and bear gear is EXACTLY THE SAME GEAR. Just turn into a fucking bear you insufferable cuntrags.

Yeah, and this was in Wailing Caverns.  A dungeon where all you have to do is show up to be successful.  These are dungeons where gear and spec don't matter all that much, and tanking/healing is fun and easy.  Yet, some people can fuck it up spectacularly.

All though this was later made up for by the incredibly awesome tank that I only had to cast renew on every few seconds who leveled up 4 times in Blackfathom.

I will say right now that druids can't tank for shit until level 30. Unless the druid has all perfect gear set up, they probably won't have the health to tank more than two things at a time.

If the druid is trying to tank in cat form it is a good sign that they are just retarded or new to the game.

Edit: Oh don't even try to tank shadowfang keep as a troll druid. Fuck that first boss and his bugs. I got reassured in vent that they fixed the troll instagib bug, just to get instagibbed half a minute later. The amazing thing was that the troll mage was just fine, but I always died.

I did not have any problems tanking on my troll druid between, what is it, 18? and the high 20s which is where I deleted him, other than the very obnoxious no Swipe making me work on every pull.  Mitigation and health weren't really a problem.

Glyph Maul, tab Maul/Mangle on cooldown, hold Growl for the inevitable DPS who opens on a secondary target because he thinks the tank will always save his ass when he wants to pad DPS meters.

If growl misses, nothing of value was lost.

In the space of five minutes I just had a warlock break my trap with his demon, wiping us, had the rogue ask which of the two targets in a pull we should attack first (one was marked, the other was in a trap), had a death knight stand around complaining about the tank and not DPSing, and had a priest, after the tank died on the pull, say that when he gets hit hard he's just going to have to let him die because healing all that health will run him out of mana.

I promptly told them all that I would rather chew my arm off than spend one more minute in there with them, and then quit the group. I wasn't given the deserter debuff, leading me to believe there is some genius algorithm that determines if you're party is just that bad or not.

every truly awful group i've bailed on since cata came out, I have not gotten the deserter debuff. It might have something to do with leaving the group within x seconds of a wipe.

i didn't quite agree with paco that Cata is horribly overtuned and the designers missed the point of random dungeons; then i ran a random HoO.

It might not show the debuff.  Joined a group, and the tank bailed.  After a quarter of an hour I got bored, so I left the group.  But after that I had to wait 10 minutes before I could re-queue, even though I didn't have a debuff or timer.

Currently 84. Planning to finish Deepholme then go to Uldum, even though it'd be more level appropriate to do Twilight Highlands and Tol Barad. I'm just too blown away by the amazing everything to skip any of the zones/quests.

It's a good idea to go for Cata Loremaster right out of the gate since it gets you Revered or close with factions and you get 346 blues at Revered.

Also for the most part I have found heroics to be quick and relatively painless.  Commander Springvale and HoO have been the only outliers.  Of course, this means I have gotten HoO 3 times in 3 days.

Galit, a mage friend of mine, and I queue for a random heroic. Reputation rewards have placed us both as able to queue.

Heroic Vortex Pinnacle. Party: Me, Galit, Druid Tank, Priest Healer, DK DPS. Last three are the same server, same guild.

Start of the fight: Tank asks me and Galit to sheep two adds. Wait 10 seconds. Tell him they're elementals. "o lol". Pull. Drops to 1-2% within seconds.
Pull 2: Drops to 1-2% within seconds
Pull 3: Drops to 1-2% within seconds. "mages. aoe. stop being bad"
Pull 4: whoop whoop whoop wipe.

Galit excuses himself for one minute to grab the trash, while everyone returns and drinks.

Votekick on Galit for: "being bad"
The vote has passed. Galit has been kicked from the party. Please select role to replace the kicked player.

Blink ahead

What Convinced Me to Quit Cataclysm:

I got into a Heroic Vortex Pinnacle as a tank.  A DPS warrior in the group looked at my gear, asked if I had a DPS set, and when I said I (sort of) do, he offered to take it.  He had 170k health unbuffed as a tank.  The game has been out for 8 days.

Good healer, decent group dps (all three dps + tank between 6 and 9k), no deaths the entire run.  We get to about two pulls before Assad and it has already been an hour and fifteen minutes regardless.  Kristine comes home with groceries and needs my help, I say I need to AFK a few minutes and help with it.  I come back 3 minutes later to find myself votekicked.  That I was votekicked strikes me as completely reasonable.

Halls of Origination has seven bosses.

An hour and fifteen minutes in Vortex Pinacle? Jesus tapdancing Christ, what kind of DPS was the group putting out? Were you just throwing snowballs at the mobs or something?

Also, for the record, if you want to fast clear HoO, only two bosses are mandatory.

I spent, what, an hour and a half?  Two hours? in Stonecore the night before with Oz, Mocto, and Scar.  My DPS was shit and I'm sure it made it longer but if I'd been up to par, would that have brought it down to a breezy hour and fifteen/a half?

I haven't been to heroic stonecore yet, but the last heroic VP I did took 45 minutes. Yeah, that's more than half an hour, but it's not exactly Blackrock Spire.

If Classic's method of making sure people who did not have much time to play could keep up PvE-wise with their friends who did involved repeatedly running Blackrock Spire months after the gear in it stopped being relevant to either the individual player or the game as a whole, that would be a fair comparison.
