Paragon got world first heroic 25 man nefarian. With 11 druids. Most likely boomkins or ferals. Hey blizz druids are not overpowered at all eh?

Less than 0.1% of all the players in the world stacked a class to abuse a very specific raid mechanic in a single encounter at the most difficult possible level of play! Clearly this means that guy who loaded me up with bleeds and then danced in bear form with enraged regen and barkskin up is overpowered.

Those words. I don't think they mean what you think they mean.

Envy, If you read the patch notes you'd know that druids are getting a bit of a nerf. All of feral's abilities are getting about a 25-55% weapon damage nerf and boomkin are getting some nifty nerfs on the length of many of their damage buffs/eclipse mechanics. Just saying, whining 2 days before something is going to get the hammer dropped on it is annoying. The amount of whining the nerfs have caused made me laugh. I had a lot of people asking me how I felt about it since I play a druid, I don't really care. It'll still be a viable class.

Funny thing; The problem with being a world first guild is that you're stuck taking the raid comp that works. Back in BC, this meant swapping shamans into your wairglaive group so you chould chain bloodlust. In Wrath, it meant killing a boss with 25 engineers using saronite bombs. In cata, it seems it means stacking your raid to take advantage of whatever class is overpowered this month.

Every class is fucked up right now, balance-wise. There's no getting out of it. Whining about it - especially when we might see a new balance patch literally tomorrow - is pretty dumb!

They're moonkin. The instant roots are particularly invaluable on Nefarion, and then each moonkin has a Tranquility and an Innervate.

I forsee nerfs to both abilities on non-restoration druids.

So two of the artists in the Gold Knuckles were inspired by a RP event we're having this Thursday night, a fishing/political rally to dethrone Gallywix and support a new Trade Prince.

Haha I am boggling over here, what is this, I don't even.

Back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back Shaman nerfs. Good lord. I think I dodged a bullet here deciding to embrace Priest for Cataclysm.

at least greater healing wave didn't already drain my mana retardedly fast if i had to hit a few of them in a row anyway  :V

Actually nothing to really shake my fist at that badly although the tremor totem change is terrible.

I've gotta say. Valiona is a tough and challenging fight. Though the sheer amounts of purple and pink is pretty blinding.

Haha wow, Ghostcrawler's Giant Learn 2 Play post is on the log-in news reel. What a tweest that he is suddenly a sort of cool dude.

I dunno what to think, really. It's admirable of them to put some challenge back in and tell everybody to get the fuck over it. It is irritating how many times you see a "heroics are too hard, quitting the game" post from somebody who will grudgingly admit that they're trying to play exclusively with the Dungeon Finder. The Dungeon Finder has it's own problems, but hamstringing yourself by refusing to make friends or even guild up undermines ya.

On the other hand, they probably won't realize that they can divorce challenge and length and that they're rapidly losing their casual fringe who want to log in for an hour each weekday, then binge on the weekends. You can have a hard 20 minute instance. HoR taught us that. I also love Ghostcrawler's advice to "come back for 4.1 when everything is retard-Wrath easy and new current content is introduced", even if it's so impossibly bad business.

I've only been to two Cata heroics so far, so my experience is pretty limited, but I'm mostly not feeling sympathetic to concerns about difficulty. I only hit the heroic ilvl on Tuesday, so I'm pretty sure that safely establishes me as being in the casual range as far as how much time I can dedicate to the game; having said that, my first heoric was Deadmines, which I've never even done on normal; it went smoothly, we had fun, and I got two achievements (including "Ready For Raiding") entirely by accident.

Then last night I did heroic HoO; for some reason we skipped like half the bosses, but Rajh wiped us one and four-fifths times with that inferno leap thing - NOT a lot of obvious warning on that, gotta say - and we only killed him on the second try because our paladin was broken-awesome and solo'd him to death.

So I'm not sure what I think right now.

I have mixed feelings about this statement, too! On the one hand, I have seen some laughably bad people from dungeon findering; on the other hand, I'm in a guild which I like and which has good people, but I just can't play until after 11 PM most nights, and almost everybody else is offline by then.

tl;dr having real-life responsibilities is ruining my wow experience.

Patch changes are hilarious, as the degree to which certain difficult fights were nerfed only serves to piss off people who enjoyed the difficulty while doing exactly nothing to make the Heroic paradigm more workable for the people having trouble with it.

GC is always the first to outline where he thinks mistakes were made and that's admirable, but until "we put seven bosses in HoO and in retrospect maybe we should have made two dungeons" shows up on that list, he's totally missing the point.

Actually, it strikes me as a little ironic that WoW is in this place right now when FFXI, OTOH, has never in its 8 and a half years been anywhere close to as casual friendly as it is right now.  "Endgame" is currently "jump on for an hour, maybe grab two or three people in Jeuno or just solo if you want, and go play in the sandbox".

we'll probably never know the full story of that game, really, which is a bit disappointing. it really seems to me that Wada threw the old team under the bus, because no way in hell did he not know about them farming the game out.

I've had to leave guilds because of scheduling issues before; I've gotten into some really, really shitty guilds, but I've also gotten into some great ones. One of the best raiding experiences I ever had in wow was with a late night casual guild. There were a bunch of drunk Australians, and they were fucking awesome people. We raided at 3 AM. It can't hurt to shop around with the late night guilds and see if there's any you like.

This advice, while well-intentioned, sort of misses the point.  You might not especially care about that point, but you should because it's why games like EQ and FFXI got 500,000 subscribers and have held them for 8 years, while games like WoW and Maple Story passed that in like a month and are still growing.

Anyway, WotLK's success was the obliteration of the myth that an MMO needed large blocks of committed time to keep people engrossed.  Now that I think about it, WotLK was the only one of WoW's three phases so far to actually accomplish what it set out to do (casual players killed the Lich King on their own schedule while challenge was maintained for hardcore players), but huh bluh why don't you just say you want them to mail you etc etc.

Yeah.  It was in development for five years and was conceived as the follow-up to the game that was more or less single-handedly keeping the company afloat.  There have to be some Warhammer-level stories of boardroom politics floating around.
