:MENDOZAAAAA:

Yet, I'm almost positive someone in Months Behind/Chaos Theory had to get one, so it's probably all good.

They turned Barrens chat in to a commercial.

Bruce Lee once said that his body could not attain martial arts perfection because it was made of flesh. HE WAS ON ANOTHER LEVEL.

4.3 this week. I guess I'll just put my Nax25 gear on my DK? I have the visual set, boots and belt included - as well as Armageddon. It looks pretty slick, all in all. I'll probably skip on the helmet and wear an eyepatch though. Because why the fuck not?

From Vanilla to Now: Why WoW is a Better Game but a Worse MMO

It's a pretty interesting analysis of the things we all complain about.

It's interesting that he tried to hide his intense lust for Vanilla behind a seemingly fair "good and bad" presentation.

It's become too easy to get epics. Which, makes epics... less epic. And in that sense, raids drops are no longer the only source of omg drool gear. You can almost create a perfectly viable endgame set of gear without ever raiding.

The value of raid gear drops relatively and no longer has that shining luster to it like before.

Guessing he does not actually raid. I know the value of my ilevels.

Haha and here comes the "10 Mans suck" shit. "At least there were cliques..." Oh you poor baby.

All that's left in the "normal" raid is to kill it while taking more damage, maybe a couple new tricks, with people I know, rather than a group of strangers.

No longer is it, beat the challenge, see the content, it's now content is accessible to everyone, challenges are optional.

It's like I'm playing a video game, you dip-shit writer!

OH GOD HIS CONCLUSION.

Thus, the crux of the matter is social interaction. No longer are we forced to painstakenly find groups for ourselves to obtain help. No longer do we need to band together as a guild to scour the world for resources to take down a big bad boss. This game has improved in every way from a single player perspective, any single player can effectively do it all without interacting with anyone else. Only those optional challenges should you choose to do makes you reach out into the MMO community to create social bonds.

I.. I'm not FORCED to make social bonds with people I resent to grind hours of tedious tasks for an attempt to see content. Th.. those casuals ruined it!

Shit like this always reminds me of an HR manager calling me at 4:45 to passive-aggressively complain about me not writing a column for the office newsletter.

Then, it spread to heroics. The 5 mans were dead, this gave reason for people to head back into the heroics over and over again. Farm the badge, collect enough, get gear.

This gave a nice channel for alts, potential raiders, etc to more quickly catch up in gear to raid, or whatever.

I love seeing people so privileged it affects their thinking in literally every aspect of their lives.

That really is what 3.3 farming was used for though. It allowed you to circumvent the arduous and well overdue to be changed process of "gearing up" prospective raid members by putting them in decent gear to begin with. This has the dual effect of gearing up people who want to get in to/back in to raiding, or just let people who don't raid get upgrades periodically, even if it's all from the previous tier.

What else do you use it for? It gets you gear. Whatever you intend to do with the gear, those tokens bought gear.

Cataclysm was a pretty long, hard road for hunters. We opened the expansion really outrageously strong and then dealt with pretty frequent nerfs and bad gear scaling all the way through, as well as absolutely horrendous pet bugs in both Firelands and Dragon Soul. But now I can honestly say it was all worthwhile.

The day of the hunter is truly upon us, my friends.
