I find it really weird that we have such a trimmed down tree and as such trimmed down talent point system. I saw it coming eventually but this seems like a pretty big overhaul which I can agree.. Alot of the talents just kind of did the same thing and it was looking really cluttered and confusing to new players.

The real issue wasn't clutter, it was balancing a game around having that many talent points was becoming increasingly more impossible. Adding five more talent points into the mix without creating new mandatory talents to aim for was probably giving Blizzard serious headaches, and somebody probably realized that even if they get it to work this time around, there's no way it would work with future expansions - there would always be at least five more talent points kicking around, making hybrid talent builds easy to pull off, which is something Blizzard has made clear that they don't want, and I can't imagine the PVP balance issues - anyone who remembers the talent point bug from Classic remembers how many balance issues that caused, and that was a single goddamn talent point.

They were also never happy, and had said as much before, with the "boring" talents that everyone got because they were 5% crit, or hit, or crit damage, or some other flat DPS increase. They also felt, and I've agreed with this since day one, that the talent trees don't really come into a play for a character, on average, until around level 40 when they get their 31 point talent. Up until then you might as well be any spec. Really defining what each character is is pretty awesome, and will help characters new and old find direction in the early game, and feel almost as excited to get a talent point as they are to get a new ability while leveling. I look forward to it going live.

I feel that more than anything the early leveling class abilities was their primary reason for revamping the talent trees and talent system.  It would've left a pretty bad taste in peoples' mouths to go through new 1-60 content as, say, a ret paladin or enhancement shaman and have pretty much no abilities until level 50.

Worgen mounts gone, female worgen de-furrified, horde guilds get the best mount ever, they're rushing patch 4.0 and part two of the cataclysm lead-in starts tuesday most likely, so get your shit done double-niggers.

Well sure, but it pretty much has to to look female.  Canines aren't known for their sexual dimorphism.

Not like I care either way, goblins 4 lyfe!

Also, that seems kinda fast even for a paladin.

citation needed for "4.0 hits this Tuesday"

why you ask

because:

quote:

    Here's some information on how each of the currencies will be converted in the next content patch. Keep in mind these values may change, and they can get a bit math heavy. Just know that our intent is to appropriately value each mark and provide a conversion we feel is fair.

    The following items are immediately converted to gold:

    * Emblem of Heroism = 5.5 gold each
    * Emblem of Valor = 5.5 gold each
    * Emblem of Conquest = 5.5 gold each
    * Badge of Justice = 1.833 gold each

    Your New Honor Points total will be the sum of the following amounts:

    * Old Honor * 0.024
    * Old Arena Points * 0.85
    * Battleground Mark of Honor * 2.976
    * Wintergrasp Mark of Honor * 19.08
    * Stone Keeper Shard * 1.6
    * Venture Coin * 3
    * Spirit Shard * 1

    Your Justice Points total will be equal to (Emblems of Triumph + Emblems of Frost ) * 2.75

    Again, the softcap for both Honor and Justice conversions is 4000 points. This means that if a character converts to above 4,000 points, it will not be possible for them to earn more until they fall below the 4,000 cap.

    A hardcap will be implemented in a following patch before Cataclysm's release. At that time, any excess points above 4,000 will be converted as follows:

    * Honor points above 4,000 are converted to gold at a rate of 35 silver per point of Honor.
    * Justice points above 4,000 are converted to gold at a rate of 2 gold per point of Justice.

Get your heirlooms early and consider down-trading for gold instead of bad point conversions.

Even if all you get was a couple of months of fun out of the deal, it was worth the price of admission, Niku.

You know you want to, Niku. Just a little grinding wouldn't hurt. You've been wanting to scratch that itch for a long time... you can quit again whenever you want.
