Highly recommend Dawn of Discovery to anyone who enjoys city builder games like the Caesar series. It has a strong campaign, endlessly deep strategic possibilities, and is incidentally fucking gorgeous, with meticulous detail and a slightly painted look adorning the whole thing.

I nearly caved for the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight pack except I remembered that really the only games I haven't played in that are mostly DOS games and Steam's implementation of DOSbox is nigh unusable without major hacking.

Picked up Shattered Union for fifty cents.  For some reason I feel that paying fifty cents to remind myself that yes, I really am bad at turned-based strategy games and no, previous experience was not a fluke was worth it.

Holy hell, GTA 4 with the two episodes is ten dollars today, but I don't know if my computer will run it.  Is it possible to get a refund it the game runs like shit?

Nope.

So my total purchases this Christmas were:

F.E.A.R. Pack
Indie Fright Pack*
Eversion

Apparently Bongo Bill was right.  Every holiday is Christmas... except for Christmas, which is Halloween.

* I just wanted The Void, but the fact that I now own The Path is kind of hilarious.

VVVVVV: 3$
DMC4: 5$
Recettear: 8$?

Also got a gifted copy of DMC3. I probably would have bought that otherwise. Recettear is sorta a stretch for me but enough people I trust told me to give it a go so I was willing to take a slight risk on that. VVVVVVV is about what I expected to pay for it after I played the demo. Skipped out on the 5 dollar pack associated with it because it looked like a fat sack of crap.

I actually got the pack that VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV came in. Galcon Fusion is a very light strategy game. I sort of liked it. Geometry Wars is Geometry Wars. The other two games are crap though.

I know I shouldn't add any more games to my backlog, but this is too good to pass up: Penny Arcade Adventures 1 & 2 for 3 bucks.

Is it too good to pass up?  Keep in mind that I fucking hated Tycho in Poker Night.

I've never played Poker Night, but the only voice in PAA is the narrator, and he's awesome. Basically, if you enjoy Penny Arcade's humor, you'll like it; if not, you won't.

They're also pretty straight-up awesome Chrono Trigger/Paper Mario-style RPGs. It took me a couple of playthroughs of each to really get into them, but man, Penny Arcade Adventures is fun. And I'm irate that I'll never get to play the end episodes.

Not Steam, but Arcanum is $4.19 at GOG this weekend.  The game's one of my favorites of the past decade and highly recommended.
