Still need to beat RE4, but that can be arranged.

Garbage of the Year?

It takes some serious hubris to brand that game with a GOTY label.

At some point GOTY just started meaning "with all the expansions".  I assume marketing is okay with this because they like to imply that the game won an award somewhere in something besides one of their nephews' e-zines.

Ha, looks like someone called it GOTY, at least.

I heard the game was messed up on launch, but since it's a PC game, I'm curious if they ever got that shit sorted out. Any good these days?

I liked it and didn't have any problems with it.

All Star Wars games are 66% off this weekend, whether purchased individually or as a package.

Good timing for me, given that I'm almost done with KOTOR and hadn't bought KOTOR II yet.

EDIT: The offer's only on for another hour or so, so FYI.

Still requires an Origin account despite being a physical copy, but that seems to be the only DRM (and is probably enough for a lot of people).

For the record: Origin is shitty for various reasons, but it will not break anything.

My definition of "break" includes introducing security vulnerabilities to my machine when we're talking about software I already don't like.

If we are going to bring up issues that were already fixed, oh hey guys Steam opens my computer up to hackers! This is also where I would put the equivalent link for Uplay as well, but no one cares about it.

That the vulnerability is essentially the same as a steam vulnerability is mentioned in the Ars Technica article. Though I'd be interested in reading about how EA fixed the problem if I didn't have to google it myself.

Seeing as I can't find anything that confirms that either ever fixed the vulnerability, who knows. Probably patched in some blacklists so that buttfuck.tk can't launch steam/origin.

Wait, so System Shock 2 is on Steam now too?  Does it have the same compatibility enhancements as GOG or what?  I've had pretty limited success with older games on Steam.

It should run just fine. The only thing different is that the GoG version came with SS2Tool pre-installed, and I think due to a problem stopped including it a few days after launch.

Anybody who cares probably already knows, but On The Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness Part 3 is now free.

Google it, I'm not gonna wrestle my phone to link something that should be easy to find.
