You like malty flavor? Avery Brewing has a Kaiser Imperial Oktoberfest Lager that is the business. The malted business.

I tried it at a winery in Fullerton last month and fell in love. It's not too malty or very bitter, but it's definitely a slow-drinker, which is a good thing for a beer with over 9% ABV. It's definitely worth hunting down at your BevMo or local equivalent. Oh, and hurry up about it; the beer is seasonal.

The Vancouver Island Brewery just released their limited run Ice Bock that goes by the name of Hermannator.

Goes well with fire pits.

Good idea (not really, but better than the alternative):

Challenge a bunch of people at a party to go shot-for-shot concurrently.

Bad Idea:

Challenge a bunch of people to go shot-for-shot independently.

I had a bad idea last night...

One time at a party at some-person-I-didn't-know's place I managed to get pushed behind the bar by the crowd.  Said crowd then decided that I was behind the bar in order to serve drinks.  Which wasn't so bad in itself except that it was also decided that I needed to share half of whatever the hell I was pouring.

When the party is like 50-some college kids, and you've literally downed everything they have had combined...

Yes, well, nowadays I get drunk off two beers, so you might want to find someone more contemporary.

Has anyone noticed that anything Brentai says fits perfectly if you imagine Snake saying it?

This.

I can't even do Hard Liqour anymore. Actually we had guests over and I fell asleep before we even got to the drinking stage. I think I should just give up, move into a rest home, grow a long white beard, and wear no clothes other than a pair of depends.

I mean my memory is already like an Alzheimer's patient's, might as well live the... uh... the, uh... something.

Two peers, for whom I hold great esteem, drop forty IQ points once inebriated. Conversely, I become more creative, sociable, and energetic. By all accounts, it'd be beneficial for my professional career to be guzzling down Wild Turkey with my Corn Flakes every morning.

Personal reflections are deceptive in such a state, but for the record, when becoming dranken you are ______ ?

Got a sake sampler set from wine.woot.com

Earlier this week: Tokubetsu Honjozo Sake.  EXCELLENT stuff.  Murai Family label stuff from sakeone.com

Currently working on the Tanrei Junmai.  A bit less flavorful, but still nice.

Thinking back on it, I don't think there's any real pattern. Whatever my state is to start, it just gets amplified. When I'm as emotionally unstable as I've been lately... Well, I think it's good that I haven't been drinking.

My voice pretty much just gets louder and louder with each drink, until I'm lying on the floor singing Ziggy Stardust at the top of my lungs.

At Stage One I sit in the corner and give sagely advice to all that start conversations with me.
But that is always quickly passed over for
Stage Two, where I break into an Irish accent for a reason I can't place.
Which is exactly why I drink myself past that until I hit
Stage Three and start to slur speech too much to keep the accent. I also flirt very blatantly with whichever female I had been most attracted to earlier. I also give the worst advice imaginable, so be careful not to confuse this with
Stage Four, where I'm sitting in a corner, usually half the party is gone (or at least the girl I scared off in stage three) and I'm back to sagely advice.
