You'd think it's a great chaser, but it's not the best of decisions.

Wait, maybe I missed something in a thread somewhere else, but considering your economic state, how the fuck did you get ahold of any of that?

Roommate bought it.  Bought only one bottle, which we split among seven people -- everybody got a shot or so.

Not actually sure what it cost but given that the coffee's something like $120 a pound and there was far less than a pound of coffee in there, I'd probably ballpark that bottle in the $20-$50 range.  Like a bottle of decent wine.

Anyway, while you are correct that I would probably not purchase such a thing, I'm not exactly destitute, either.  I'm making a lot less than I'd like to be, but I'm making more than enough to live comfortably.

Well, yeah, if you plit it seven ways and only got a few shots worth each then that obviously makes sense. I just saw the per-pound price which is triple-digits.

...Safeway has made me start signing a fucking list every time I buy beer.

I guess it's time for the "It's totally A-OK for companies to treat their customers like potential criminals!" brigade to come in and explain to me why I shouldn't find that incredibly fucking offensive.

...I guess on the plus side, it's more incentive for me to support local businesses and buy my beer from my favorite liquor store where they know who I am and treat me with respect.  (Safeway's right across the street from my house, but the liquor store in question is right across the street from where I buy comics and coffee, so I'm in that area at least once a week anyway.)

We have a city and major store location near your house. The only thing better than that for stalking you would be a sate- oh, wait...

Annoys customers to the point where they don't buy their booze from Safeway anymore.

starbucks@chapters is a recurring motif, but chapters isn't really a place to go for up to date comics.

and starbucks isn't really a place to go for coffee.

It's a CYA move on Safeway's part.  If Sheriff Joe's goons arrest me later and find out I'm under 21 and I tell them I bought the booze from Safeway, they can go there and see that Safeway did its job and carded me and got me to sign a thing saying my ID wasn't fake.

...you know what?  If I ever DO get busted for, I don't know, public drunkenness, I'm going to tell the cops that Safeway sold me alcohol when I was obviously intoxicated and did not ask me to present ID or sign anything.

where I buy comics and coffee,

Wait, you can buy comics and coffee in the same place now? Madness.

They're in the same building but are not the same establishment.

Thad, I think their plan is foolproof because you're not going to remember to do that if you're drunk enough to be arrested.

Your mistake is in assuming that the Maricopa County Sheriff's Department only arrests people if they have a reason.
