Technical Things
« on: February 03, 2010, 10:48:02 PM »

I wasn't really happy with the sound quality in my Wonderboy LP, leading me to the conclusion that my current headset is busted. I am looking for a nice, new one that isn't too staticy. Not really fussed how much I have to pay.

Is it better to go with the two-pin headsets or the USB? What headsets have people had good experiences with?

And one for Brentai, Kazz and OHaku, what alcoholic beverages contribute best to recording?

For reference, my old one was a Verbatim and sort of looked like this.

After discussing it with a friend, I think I'm just going to try a USB Logitech. We'll see how it goes.

Is there an easy way to make sure the game audio doesn't drown out commentary? Also is there a way to make one audio track quieter in a video editing program? I'm using Camtasia for combining the audio tracks and editing the video right now.

If that's a huge concern, you could always set your recording software to record the game audio, then have a program like Audacity specificially to record your commentary, then splice them together in an editing software like Vegas later on.
