28, man. I've officially outlived everyone cool. Now if I OD on heroin it'll just look sad.

Y-you can still OD on something more X-TREME, right? That'll still be OK, won't it?

Suddenly I realize why a dinosaur-themed message board is so appropriate.

My 27th is this November the 5th.

Who wants to come visit Ottawa for my big Guy Fawkes Night esque bonfire and fireworks birthday EXTRAVAGANZA?

Oooh!

Well, let's see what the weather's like. Hopefully I can avoid being a rectangular-shaped object with regular sides.

Happy belated birthday, Classic!

Happy birthday, Friday!

For my part, we're exactly eight days past my 28.5th birthday.

You can do both if you get married to a foreign national.

Worked for Starr anyway!

Whoops, missed thread until today.  Thanks, Friday.

Anyway, girlfriend's 31 (and was told by a man on the street at Oktoberfest that she "got a nice walk for a white girl"), so 30 seems less old than it did.

Also:

Ones I've got my eye on (as recommendations, not because I'm trawling for birthday presents):
Wilson -- Another critically-acclaimed book from Dan Clowes.
Masterpiece Comics -- Classic lit with superheroes.  I read Dostoevsky Comics a few years back; it was Crime and Punishment with the cast of Batman.  As good as it sounds, and now there's a whole book of them.
Nancy -- Until this past Free Comic Book Day, all I'd ever seen of Nancy were the dull-as-dishwater three-panel gag strips that they've been running in the papers far past their expiration date.  Imagine my surprise to find out that the original strips were frickin' amazing -- and SURREAL.
Get a Life -- I read a few of these strips in an FCBD offering too, some years back.  Good stuff.
Louis Riel -- Chester Brown's one of those legendary, transcendent figures in comics but I haven't read much of his work, just a few stray issues of Yummy Fur.  By all accounts, this is a good place to start, but if anyone has any better suggestions let me know.

She got me all of them.

(Minor correction: the Stanley Nancy comics are not actually the original strips.  But they're still awesome.)
