it's not quite the same thing, but i've been playing the Might and Magic puzzle game for the DS and

1) why would you make a game with competitive multiplayer where the teams are not balanced at all

2) why would you make a single-player campaign where you start as the objectively worst team and each chapter has you playing the next worse one, constantly fighting only enemies that are better than you

i should have elaborated, people complain about megalomania, when really megalomania is the LEAST of your problems when it comes to boss I-no, only the nearly full screen version is all that difficult to dodge.

The thing with Megalomania is that it doesn't have bar or anything of that sort to make it visible when the computer can use it. Bison in Alpha 3 has his super bar and once he uses it you can actually jump in on him for a bit. But Megalomania is the sort of thing that she can just spam when you're in the middle of a combo on her to cancel out, thankfully she doesn't spam it, which wouldn't be so bad since you can actually punish her for doing it pretty well. A good comparison would be Rugal's genocide cutter, since it's just such a ridiculous good move that he can do whenever he wants, but he does spam the hell out of it.

On Maniac you can look forward to three or four mid-combo Megalos in a single round, but yeah the main saving grace is that she can't use it forever simply by virtue of being a computer.  The main bitch is that it drags out the fight long enough for her to kill you with that only-a-computer-can-do-it-reliably air super.

GG is about the only fighting game I've ever seriously played, so forgive me if I have a tendency to focus on it.

Rugal's Genocide Cutter is utter bullshit. UTTER BULLSHIT.

Really, boss I-no's Megalomania just lets her cancel out of being hit and gives her super armor. But all but her full screen upward curve version is punishable, and that one ends up with her out of range anyway.

I had one bullshit round with her just canceling megalomania into itself forever. That was annoying.

I can't speak to 1), since I didn't play the multiplayer, but 2) is a lie. Elves are in no way shape or form "objectively" worst, and in fact I rather like them. I certainly like them more than I liked Griffon or wizards. (Of course, part of the issue here is that the last chapter was so goddamned grindy.)

Rubber banding in Mario Kart.  :rage:
So I've been going through Mario Kart Wii, on a quest to unlock everything--not really difficult, just time-consuming--and I've noticed that except for on stages like Moonview Highway (read: cars) or the DS levels (I was incredibly pro at MKDS, you don't even know), the rubber banding is so bad that if I am playing at the top of my game, like speeds that beat the Expert Staff Ghosts, the CPU players are still always right behind me, and it's always a single red shell that reminds me of this.

It is actually pretty frustrating that if I watch them in the rear view, they aren't actually doing all the semi-snaking and boosting and tricking I am. They can be driving the same damn kart. They are just going faster than I can.

My complaint here is just that I wish the competence of the CPU was increased, not just the speed. At least try to hide they are cheating, you know?

Seriously, burrito? You're gonna argue that Sylvan is as good as Necromancer? A unit that adds +2 to a unit's Wait vs. one who can't even be attacked. I DUNNO YOU GUYS.

Puzzlequest.

the supposedly random gems that fall down to replace destroyed ones become more and more NOT RANDOM as you go on.

never getting the fucking color you need for a magic spell, computer getting more skulls or easy combos

fucking had to restart on the final boss about 20 times.

Gee, the developer says that the computer doesn't cheat, but I think their lying bastards. There is no way the same thing happens to the computer.

No really you can do the same thing. I've had it happen before where I took a line down and then I got an extra turn and half of the enemy's hp was missing afterwards. You just tend to remember when you lose in one turn a lot more often.

I think it's more that the computer can "see" the layout of the gems better, and thus anticipate combos better, than the player can. The RNG for new gems dropping does seem to favor the computer sometimes, but I've had battles where I've destroyed an enemy in one turn due to RNG luck.

It seems that if you have hints turned on, following the computer's advice is the worst thing you could ever do. Most of the time it just pulls a huge combo out of its ass after it tells you to go for the dinky 3 gold line. It's the best cpu troll ever.

Although the necromancers are a fucking fantastic faction (and they probably have the best hero spells), I think you're underestimating the value of the ludicrously short charge speed of Sylvan units. Your ghosts don't do shit until they're charged, and unless you have him ready to go on turn one, I'm going to have archers shooting him in the face on turn 2.

There's a post somewhere on the internet, by the PuzzleQuest developers, that amounts to "The computer AI is like 20 lines of code, and that's it. It doesn't cheat"

Not really because it likes to be a fuckard and a lot of enemies can't really be beaten with straightforward puzzling

it's easy if youuuu

play a mage with maxed red mana skill and a firecaller staff and abuse the bug with fireball interacting with hand of power to gain bonus damage on all your detonated skulls

i have definitely killed liches with one attack this way and taken out cities in two turns
