I love Circuit City crashing and burning.  Red Alert 3, Sam and Max Season One, and Taiko Drum Master all for $15?  Score.

I came here to write about me renting Sam & Max Season 1 on the Wii. It's great fun. But like most games like it, I get stuck. Why couldn't I see that I had to make the cake first and THEN put ketchup on it, I thought I had to put the ketchup with the cake mix. (Another hint: There's a spray paint can on top of a car)

I'm also playing Red Alert 3 from time to time. The girl from the Orbit Gum commercials not only speaks mandarin but has a very nice butt. :(

Okay, as impossibly douchey as almost every aspect of Tom Clancy's HAWX comes off, from a VA set of buzzed Yeah-Dudes to the fact that the name of this video game is Tom Clancy's HAWX, the dogfighting in this demo is balls-out fantastic. The second you ditch the traditional cockpit view for the full-control aerial maneuver mode, this game is becomes the most immensely satisfying flight sim this side of Freespace fucking 2. Absolute minimal hud, close-quarters encounters, casual stalling and horizontal rotation, and the ability to actively dodge and out-maneuver missiles without just dropping chaffs. You can see the battle around you with complete clarity, and you have full control over what you do - had a few issues with the camera while targeting, sticking to targets I didn't give a dick about, but nothing game-breaking.

Your dingy F-15's still loaded with exactly one million missiles and you seem to be able to shrug off a half-dozen direct hits, but whatevs, this game is exhilarating and it's a damn sight more fun than Ace Combat's been as of recent. If they let you co-op the campaign and not just a handful of jet hunt maps, I am all over this.

Downloaded the Burnout Paradise: Ultimate Box trial for PC, which includes the full game on a limited timer, both to test out the game and my new wireless 360 pad receiver. First off, it is a shockingly good port. Full support for every resolution I can think of, PC controls or gamepad, it doesn't suffer any performance issues I've found and I'm running it at full settings (1680x1050). Gorgeous visuals as expected, and rock solid frame rate.

The trial itself is pretty remarkable in that it is the full city, and if you choose to purchase the game you simply enter a code you receive upon doing so and the game is unlocked for you, saving any progress you may have made while tooling around in the trial version.

Also, if you were wondering, the 360 receiver works great, essentially nullifying my purchase of a 360 by making my PC into a much better one with damn near the same library.

Regarding Ar Tonelico 2: Does anyone else refer to Cloche's fan club as the Lesbian Brigade?

I have a strange dilemma. I got Dragon Quest V, Fire Emblem 11, and Retro Game Challenge the other day. Now, when I decide to hang one of them up for a while, I can't decide which of the other two to switch to.

There's some sort of shadow option that drops a lot of people's fps for no reason

Anyway, you should get the 360 version if possible so you can play with me, max, pseg and a few other people

I got my three shaymin (one's for mcdohl).  They are very cute and look like they'd be very silky soft if they were real.

In animal crossing, the leaves just turned green but there's still snow on the ground.  I only need 4 more hybrids to have all the different colors of flowers (carnations don't count since you shouldn't have them yet anyway).

I should really get back to playing Paper Mario.

Not by that name, no. I'd be worried about mislabeling a group of ladies who
are wired into such a huge space laser.
With one out of five episodes completed, I can safely say that I like Heretic so far. Yeah, I know, it surprised me too. It's... refreshing in a retarded sort of way. It's all "shoot ugly things" and "find a colored key", in a way that makes me understand why the game was popular back then. You never have to stack cinderblocks on a seesaw, you know? I mean, I like stacking cinderblocks just as much as the next guy, but sometimes it's fun to go back to the basics.

I still don't get why these old shooters pretty much all literally send you to Hell though. It's like, "Hades again? really? seriously?". I'm sure Satan must have better things to do than get his ass kicked by every tough guy with a grudge and ammo coming out his ears. Dang, give the guy a break.

If automatic firearms had been invented in the 14th century, Dante would not have been a poet.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI.

Complex, but not complicated.  Pretty much what I was looking for in a strategy game.  Also, it's making me want to fiddle with all that #Final Fight 2 stuff I have left lying around.

One of the miscellaneous quests in FFTA2 has a mob in it that will cast sleep and doom on everyone on the battlefield at once.  This would be a lot more balanced were it not for the fact that half the enemies in that mission are immune to both sleep and doom.  Oh, also one of your units is an NPC who sucks.

This isn't a sidequest or anything.  It's a standalone mission without any special rewards.  What were they thinking?

Been playing Bionic Commando: Re-Armed and I just finished it. At least as awesome as advertised, but I'm not sure I'll go back for the challenges. I'm not sure I actually need to be that good at Bionic Commando.

Zed: Have you heard of Painkiller? I was moved to download it when Yahtzee gave it a good [sic] review, and it did not disappoint. I have no real idea what I'm trying to accomplish (aside from "kill Lucifer's generals"), but damn is it fun. Reminds me a lot of Heretic.

Yeah, I've heard of it, but it had always seemed to be just on the other side of my line as far as subject matter is concerned.

I mean, the critters in Heretic are barely repurposed generic fantasy clichés, with your gargoyles and golems and skeletons and evil wizards, and I only know I'm in Hell because of all the lava. What I've seen of Painkiller suggests that it's taking its stuff in more of a grotesque/horror direction. I'm not a fan of gruesome for gruesome's sake.

But looking at some screenshots on GameFAQs, it doesn't seem as bad as I thought. I mean, it seems tamer than Diablo, which is still into my comfort zone, though I don't know how much the bird's-eye perspective has to do with it. Maybe I'll check it out on the youtubes when I'm done with the Hexen pack, to kind of give me a better idea.

Painkiller is the real Doom 3.  Pass it on.

Well, I know for sure that Doom 3 is way on the other side of the aforementioned line, because that shit is gross, so, hmm.

Been playing Bionic Commando: Re-Armed and I just finished it. At least as awesome as advertised, but I'm not sure I'll go back for the challenges. I'm not sure I actually need to be that good at Bionic Commando.

Roughly the first half of the challenges are fun and make you feel good about yourself when you're done. The rest is mostly for masochists.

In other news, I'm done with TR: Anniversary and Underworld, and I just got Legend. Lara where have you been all my life? You still look weird but I love what you do.

I think that for a long time I've bought into all the media stuff that gave the impression that Tomb Raider was only popular for the boobs, but it's grown evident to me that most outside people have no clue that the games sell because they're actually good (well maybe only some of them apparently).
