Dry Bones will never stop. No matter how far you run, it's only a matter of time.

I played TF2 for the first time today.

...I probably did as well as you'd expect.   :nyoro~n:

Yeah, it's rough getting in these days. Most regular players have been playing since the beta, or release at the latest. Still, not as bad as getting into something like CS or DoD.

That's actually a very good thing.  Right after Christmas, TF2 was inundated with idiotic new players.  In a game where teamwork is so critical, incompetence ruins the game.  They were almost belligerently ignorant; heavies standing around staring at hallways without even spinning their barrel, scouts running in the wrong direction, medics healing snipers, spies shooting turrets with the revolver...

I mean, I am capable of having fun in a game where I'm not winning, but they did an admirable job of making TF2 unplayable for a while.

Well, the free TF2 weekend is inundated the game with a new wave of noobs, which is fine for me since I have a ghost of a chance.  I mean I basically held a control point for an entire game as a lone medic for Christ's sake.

...I actually had to consciously force myself to type "Christ" instead of "Ra" there, you know.

Free weekend's been over for a few hours now.

...kinda forcing myself not to grab Orange Box off Steam right now.  I mean it's SUPAH VALUE but I happen to enjoy having a life.

Do it. You owe it to yourself to play Portal anyway.

I've played Portal.

I'm not... at liberty to discuss how, but I wouldn't mind playing it again.

So after my other Dwarf Fortress project (an underground glass-walled tower in a pit of water/reverse aquarium) hit the skids due to goblin attacks I decided to give things another go and make a giant dam/power plant with an aboveground town.  Barring some accidents due to giant falling sheets of rock it's going a lot better (four years in and the place hasn't descended into an orgy of violence!), although most of the rock in the region is either brown, brownish-red or dark grey.  I'm half tempted to dig out a Quake level somewhere in there.

EDIT: Actually, it's more of light burnt umber or burnt sienna, now that I think about it.

Did I mention that I am in the process of making Dwarf Fortress Rapture? It's not even going too badly. Although, I'm ashamed to admit: I'm using the pump exploit for fresh water. There's just no other way, what with the aquifer even being salt-water.

We need to get another group fort going.

That's brilliant.  A Dwarf Fort whose ultimate goal is to have its inhabitants eventually go crazy and destroy themselves.

See, I was going to wait until Baron Frank Fontaine showed up to allow them to go insane, but it seems a dwarf has already thrown her baby into the magma stream.   :ohshi~:

I think the Miasmids are getting to them.

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

You sell the baby to Tenenbaum, then light yourself on fire.

From the top now!

You know, I wasn't all that impressed with the bee-shooting. Sure, it looks cool, but the damage is pretty pitiful, and pestering effect usually didn't last long enough to make much difference. YMMV, of course.

The pestering stun works on Big Daddies, allowing you to kill them with a wrench.

What's your point?

Dude, fucking bees.

ADDENDUMB: Found 'em. Also, I can't get the sound of those ringing security cameras out of my head.
