Bioware has been going overboard with in-game unlockables - you can get in-game items for playing the Flash game, for preordering the game, for not buying the game used, and for buying the collector's edition.

I may have a full inventory at character creation.

Feels extremely pump-and-dumpy but DA:O is like one of 4 games this year I was actually looking forward to playing, so.

Assassin's Creed is better than I expected. But I have a love of collect-a-thons and treasure. In fact, I'm really glad that they just flat out copied the Super Mario 64 style of gameplay, spread it out over cities, covered it up with a MATURE paint job and made an entire genre of action games that would barely play any differently if they actually starred Mario.

The hurf-durf battling thing got a bit old to me after the first couple assassinations, but yeah, I really enjoyed how this game was laid out. They put so much damn work into making an authentic old-timey Jeruselem that I'm tempted to say that the thing stands on its own even completely removed from the assassin angle. The cities and people felt real, they talked to each other, they carried about their business sellin' and hawkin' and preachin' and it was all so well-done that I didn't mind slowly plodding through the streets. There was a life to that place. I didn't need to be hurling myself across rooftops to enjoy the setting, it was stimulating enough just going about its daily routine.

I guess that was the thing that really surprised me. They took a time period and depicted a relatively average day. The fact that it was 1191 didn't really define the game, it was just where Altaïr lived.

The doctor scenario is all screwed up, but there are definitely assassinations later on where it is possible to infiltrate undetected, do the deed, and then get out without being noticed.

The best part about AC was pretty much the care and effort they put into making the whole thing seem alive, hands down.

Fuck, now I want to replay it, but the game is long gone, sent back to it's original owner.

...is the PC Version SecuROM free?

Do you understand how terrifying the words “vibrating strap on” are for an asexual? That’s like saying “the holocaust” to a Jew.

AC used Safedisc for the retail version, not SecuROM.  It's a little hard to figure out whether it was taken out for Steam, as you get Ars articles like this one, which links to a bunch of people with my video card going HURF BLURF PROBLEM WITH THIS CARD, whereas I had not a single crash or visual artifact.

Steam is how I'd get it PC-Wise, yes.

...you know, maybe I should just email Gabe Newell and ask. From what I am told he is a very cool dude when it comes to direct questions.

Made it to level 4 in this guy:

Dragon Age: Journeys

Except chrome and flash are conspiring to devour all of my machine's resources and not keep a solid connection long enough for me to actually enjoy the dealies I unlock. I learned a spell that let me enchant everyone's weapons with fire. It made me feel like a big man.

I find it really hard to believe that a boo would date a koopa.

I know I'm the last person who should be saying this, but I'd appreciate a little more babble there, yy.

In the meantime, I've discovered what makes me like the Dragon Age flashgame so well. And it's basically that they have you pick a feat every level. "But CLASSIC!" You say, "This has been pretty standard fare since Diablo. Why are you such an advance?" and my answer basically boils down to up until fairly recently I did more book and dice stuff.
